CHAPTER NEWS
On November 5th, TOPS #VT16, Rutland had a special guest speaker at their meeting.  Sandra Owens, of Walk Rutland presented information on the importance of walking for fitness and demonstrated some yoga stretches. After her presentation, she led an outdoor walk for those who wished to participate.  Walk Rutland is a program that encourages people all over Rutland County to get out and walk more.  The group looks for volunteers to lead walking groups at various times and locations.  The members of TOPS #VT16, Rutland have been taking turns taking home a TOPS Portion Plate and using it for at least one meal per day.  For those not familiar with the TOPS portion plate, it is a 9 inch plate that has lines on it to show the portion that should be vegetables, meats, and grains, as well as pictures that compare portion sizes to the size of common items.
This giant rock is one of the many places some of the members of TOPS #VT109, Jacksonville visit on their group walks.  Pictured are Judy Carrier, Fran Madden, Ina Abildgaard, Liz Fournier, Brenda Raleigh, and Pam Moore.

Like many of us, leader Brenda Raleigh of TOPS #VT109, Jacksonville says her chapter has been struggling lately, with more weekly net gains than net losses.  Brenda recently presented a program that she had originally used at the beginning of the year, but it can be used any time we feel we need to get ourselves back on track.  Several of the members indicated they felt motivated when they left the meeting that night after hearing the program.  Brenda's program can be found here..  Thanks, Brenda, for sharing it.
