THE LETTER Dear Proud Mother, This letter comes to you; A greatful Nation must give you thanks, For what you've let us do. Words cannot say, nor will we try, To mend your shattered heart; But, pray this simple letter, Can be a place to start. You gave him life, you taught him well, He stood the test and more; What else for freedom can a Mother give, Or a Nation ask for her? A row of ribbons on his chest, Is not enough we say; For men so young to give their lives, In a land so far away. With heavy heart and deep regret, This letter comes to you; America says, "Thanks, Proud Mother", For what you let us do! Sincerely, America |
