Artifacts
There are a variety of artifacts from the Paleolithic period. An artifact is an object made by humans belonging to earlier times. Ancient objects are great keys to "unlock" the secrets of the past.

When finding artifacts scientists come across a variety of stone tools that were chipped or flaked. These tools were used to cut and slice plus there were tools that were made to make other tools. Bone implements, like needles, were used to sew furs and skins for blankets or body coverings. Different personal ornaments were found as well. These pieces of jewlery were made of horns, bones and ivory. Not until later in the Stone age were cave paintings made as a form of cominication.

Early man used their tools and other objects in order to survive. Today ancient objects are used on finding out civilization roots and fall under two fields. The fist field is anthroplogy, which is the study  of human culture and life's origin up tp the present. Archeology is the second field, which is the study of the material remains of human and human ancestors.
