Australopithecus
HOME
Our most ancient ancester is the Autralopithicus Afarenses. they lived 4 million years ago. An Autralopithicus male and females  are different in height and weight. The difference is 2 millimeter in height and 50 killometers in weight. they lived along the northern rift valley in East Africa.
In 1974 a bipedal or two-footed, ancestor was found in Hadar, Etheopia. Lucy is the skeliton remains of Autralopithicus. The descovery of Lucy is important because she made us aware of her species. Lucy was a two footed ancestor whoes brain expanded between 380 to 450 cc.
Lucy was 3 feet and 8 inches tall. she resembled a chimpanzee but was also a human. She walked upright like a human. This is important because standing upright and walking on two feet came before the development of human intelligence.
