The definition for Cro-Magnon is the earliest known type of modern human found in Europe and dating from between 50,000 and 30,000 years ago. Cro-Magnon was ancient. The name Cro-Magnon was named after the Cro-Magnon Cave near Les Eyzeis in Dordogne France where some of the most famous skeletons were found, dating in 1868. These Cro-Magnon creatures were ancestors of the people of Southern Europe. Cro-Magnon flourished in Southern Europe during the last glacial age. Characteristics of the Cro-Magnons distinguish them from the Neanderthals. They had a high forehead and a well-defined chin. The scientists discovered these details when they dug up the Cro-Magnon's most desired artifacts and their instruments made of ivory and stone. The archeologists also found that the Cro-Magnon wore clothes and they decorated themselves with jewelry and ornaments of shell and bone. The Cro-Magnon people were very talented and skilled in carving and sculpturing with the bone that they found. They also were talented in Painting. In fact, scientists found their paintings in nearby caves. This helped science understand Cro-Magnon culture a little better. |
