Extinction is the end of a group of organisms, caused by their inability to adapt to changing enviromental conditions. Extinction can happen by nature or by killing of the species. For example, two members of the elephant family, the mammoth and mastodons, died out. extinctions shake up the dynamics of like on earth. One example of extinction by nature is dinosaurs. One theory of dinosaurs is they became extinct from a meteorite. However, another example of a killing of species extintion was the dodo bird. The dodo birds were killed when domestic animals destroyed some of the nests or destroyed the forest which shortened their food supply. Paleantologists can find the evidence of extinction from fossils. |
