What Makes the VVS Course Special and Unique? |

The XC Course at VVS was completely redesigned in the Fall of 2003 and construction began in 2004. That year VVS also hosted the Section 3 Chapionship Meet. This was a feather in the cap for the the Disctict as over 1500 runners ran in the 2004 Inaugural VVS Invite and over 1200 runners competed at Sectionals. The races showcased not only some of the best talent in Section 3 and New York State but also the nation, highlighted by the Fayetteville-Manlius Boys XC Team which finished 1-5 in the AA Boys Race and, later, second at the Nike Team Nationals. Other notable Boys Perfomances were turned in by Liverpool, Holland Patent, Westhill, our own VVS team, Sauquoit, and Beaver River. Notable Girls performaces were turned in by CNS, F-M, Canastota, Skaneateles, New Hartford, Westhill, and Beaver River. Several teams went on to win NYS Championships including FM Boys, Sauquoit Valley Boys, and Beaver River Girls. It was truly an honor to be a part of this event. (See Course Records-Boys and Girls) Like all successful athletic programs, VVS receives a great deal of support from the community-especially our All-Sports Booster Club. The Boosters have sponsored 2 trips to the Mahhattan College XC Invite in 1998 and 2001, Brown University Invite in 2002, new warm-ups for the boys and girls teams, and money for initial construction of the course and continuous course improvements. Our parents are truly special. Eech Friday before an invite, a family will put on a pasta dinner where there are many laughs and memories created. Their suport throughout the seasona nd during our invite is greatly appreciated. In addition, the VVS High School National Honor Society, school nurses, and support staff help make our seasons a continuous success. Finally, we have several creative ideas (and pie in the sky dreams) in the works. Look for these to come (hopefully). |
