Pearl Harbor Bombing In the night of December 7, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Japanese sunk 2 ships, exploded 200 planes, and murdered 2000 American citizens. This attack astonished the US Congress and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Amidst the astonishment, Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.
