Dallas

Dallas skyline from 50 stories high

The first part of Septmeber I went to Dallas for a trade show w/ another co-worker and I was looking forward to going back to the land of Shiner Bock! We got set up in the Dallas Hyatt which has to be the nicest hotel in town and they also have the ultra swank rotating bar & restaurant 50 stories high. Anyway, the first day we were there after we set up our trade show booth we went over to Sonny Bryan's for BBQ because I had heard alot of good things about them and I wasn't disappointed. After a quick lunch we headed to the Galleria mall to kill some time and my oh my did they have the most upscale stores, Macy's Saks, Gucci, Coach you name it they had it, they even had an indoor ice skating rink! It was nice to look, but nothing struck my fancy so I left empty handed. That night we decided to eat at Medieval Times where they have jousting & other knight competitions. Let me just say it's very expensive, but certainly an experience. The meal was $35, you didn't get all that much and 12 oz beers were $5 to boot, yeesh. The show lasted 2 hours so I guess it was worth, but I certainly wasn't full when I left.

After the first day of the show we saw the bronze statues of a longhorn drive in the downtown then went to the West End to get something to eat. After we walked around for awhile we decided on Joe's Crab Shack, now I'm not a fan of seafood, but they have pretty good cheeseburgers and mashed potatoes so I was all set.

The second day of the show really wiped us out so we stayed at the Hyatt and went up to their freestanding rotating bar & restaurant where we got some good views of Dallas including where Kennedy was shot which was not all that far from the hotel.

The next day was Sunday and the last day of the show so we were ready to get out as soon as it was over since we had a long day of travel still ahead of us. We ended up getting home at midnight on Sunday and of course had to be into work the next morning bright and early. Two days later was when the attack on the World trade Center took place so you know I was gald to be home and in one piece.
