Door County

Door County

View over looking the bay at Ephriam

The last weekend in October my girlfriend and I decided to go back up to Door County and this time I remembered to bring my camera along! We started up the back side of the peninsula to check out White Dunes state park, but since it was pretty cold at that time in the morning we didn't stay too long. Up the road from there was Bailey's Harbor and we stopped at a shop that sold Norwegian and Austrian clothing. I was *this close* to buy a pair of lederhosen that were on sale, but figured how often would I really wear them. And even though they were on sale, they were still $200, yikes! After that we drove thru Sister bay, Ephriam, and Giles Rock to the very end of the peninsula where you can look out at Washington Island. Then we went back thru the small towns to get to Sister Bay where we stopped to bum around and grab something to eat. We had planned on eating at Al Johnson's which is a Swedish restaurant w/ a grass roof and goats on top of it just muching away, but it was way too busy so we ended up stopping in at a sandwich shop. After a bit of bumming in Sister Bay we headed back down to Egg Harbor to take some pics of the church and hit the shops there. Egg Harbor is a very small town (we're talking population 200 maybe) but they have the coolest grocery store w/ all the pimpest items you could ever want. I could spend an hour in the beer & wine section alone, who buys the stuff I will never know. It was about mid afternoon and had warmed up a little bit so we went back to Peninsula State park which is in Fish Creek to hike around and take a few pics. I would have liked to gone up when there was still some fall color left on the trees, but oh well it was still pretty cool. After the state park we got some dinner and were headed back home once more.
