Day 1 - Friday October 6th 2006

1. I have Samsung Samtron 55V monitor. I recently installed Windows 2000 SP4 version in my PC. When I login, the monitor was using 16 color. I was searching for a Samtron 55v monitor driver to resolve this issue but I finally found that this issue is due to Intel Graphics driver for my Intel chipset 82815 motherboard. Graphics driver was not installed on my PC. This issue has nothing to do with monitor driver. I downloaded and installed Intel Graphics Driver for my motherboard from support.intel.com. This resolved my issue. If your Device Manager or System in Control panel shows Video Graphic Adapter not found, please go to support.intel.com and search for your motherboard and get the drivers. Instead open the CPU and get the motherboard version and make. Go to manufacturer site and get all drivers for your OS. Manufacturer site will have all drivers including sound card drivers.

Day 2 - Saturday October 7th 2006

1. I'm using Windows XP Professional in my Laptop. I was trying to delete an entry from services.msc (Windows Control Panel -> Services) as I removed all files and folders for this application by mistake. I searched in google and found that there is a command called sc in Windows using which we can remove an entry from services.msc. You have to type "sc delete service_name" in your Windows DOS prompt. You can find service_name by righ click on your entry in Services (services.msc) and click on Properties. In Properties, you can find Service Name (Usually this will be the first attribute in Properties).

Day 3 - Tuesday October 10h 2006

1. My motherboard is Kobian Mercury KOB 815e FSX. It is 6 years old. It had PC133 128 MB DIMM SDRAM. I thought of upgrading my RAM. So, I bought a 256 MB PC133 DIMM SDRAM. I had a very big fight in installing this 256 MB RAM. I tried all combinations and finally did the following to resolve: I assume that you have the latest BIOS loaded in ROM area of your motherboard. BIOS is the middle layer between your motherboard and Windows. To download the latest BIOS software, please go to http://www.mercury-pc.com and choose this model KOB 815e FSX (you can find your model number when you open your CPU Unit. It will be in the middle of your mother board (white sticker)). The download will have both BIOS software and Award flash utility to flash/load the BIOS to your ROM. It is easy to install BIOS. Copy BIOS software and Award Flash utility in a floppy. Use another floppy and make it a boot floppy. Load Windows using boot floppy. Now you will get DOS prompt with A:. Now change your prompt to your virtual drive (for example CD C: ). Remove your boot floppy. Insert the floppy which has BIOS software and AWARD flash utility. Make sure this floppy is writable mode. Change dos prompt to A:. Type “award_utility_name BIOS_Software.BIN” (Ex. A:> awd822a isa220g.BIN). It will prompt you to backup the current BIOS. Choose Y. Give some name for backup file. Then it will prompt you to choose Y to run the BIOS program. That’s it. Very simple. If you get an error “The program file's part number does not match with your system”, please use /f option to force it “awd822a isa220g.BIN /f”. Once you complete your BIOS Update, please follow the steps to upgrade your RAM. 1. Switch off your PC. 2.Remove 128 MB RAM from the mother board. 3. Insert 256 MB RAM into the mother board. 4. Start the PC. Press F8 while Windows 2000 loads. You will get various Safe Mode options to boot Windows 2000. Choose “Enable Boot Logging” mode. Now, Windows 2000 will boot up. Login to Windows using your user id and password. Windows will detect the new hardware installed. Then restart your PC. Now, it will boot up in normal mode. Note: Your PC will restart twice this time. It will work normally from third time onwards. 5. Now, shutdown the PC. Insert 128 MB RAM into the free slot. Follow Step 4 (above) to load this new hardware. That’s it. Now Windows 2000 will detect both 256 MB RAM and 128 MB RAM memory modules. This concludes that KOB 815e FSX can support different memory modules. 6. Similarly, you can install your Ethernet or network card using Enable Boot Logging mode.
