Webster's Dictionary defines honor as a sense of what is right, true and just. Having a sense of right action means knowing what is right, true, and just and acting on that knowledge. Sometimes it isn't easy to do, but we all have a responsibilty to do it. In todays world following the crowd is more easy then going against the flow simply because you know what is happening isn't right. It can cause persecution, and hatred to be pointed at you for making the "right" choices. Well, I have never told you that being Pagan was easy. This is a walking, breathing religion. And it isn't an easy path to walk. Developing this sense of right action can cause you to have to rethink your priority's. It makes you rethink your choices and what you do in every situation. You have to let go of the selfish nature that we all have as humans and rise above it to do the right thing. As an example, I am going to tell you about something that happened in my life. My husband and I went to the store and only had ten dollars to our name. And that isn't an exagerration. It was Sunday and we had ten dollars to last us till Friday, no food in our house, and no money to do our laundry. In short we were past broke. We paid for eight dollars worth of stuff and the cashier handed us change for a twenty. And we took it, left the store and started to walk ( yes walk, we didn't have a car) home. On the way home my husband and I said at the same time, That isn't right. We went home and for one hour discussed keeping this money as it meant food and clean clothes. But it wasn't right to keep it, and we both knew it. So he called the store and returned the money. This was a hard thing to do when you have kids to feed and no money to do it with. And we knew that by returning the money there would be days we would go hungry. Not an easy choice to make, but we did the right thing. On my husbands way home from work the next week he found eight dollars in the parking lot. The Goddess really does provide. But had we not have had that sense of right action we would have kept the money and I am pretty sure that the Goddess wouldn't have been too happy with our choice. But that is what I mean by having a sense of right action and acting on it. You have to be someone who can see the bigger picture. That cashier would have lost his job, perhaps, if his cash register was off that ten dollars. And it would have affected his family, if he has one, and I wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone else losing their job and their children being affected. That would voilate the Harm none Rule. So everything you do has a reaction somewhere. That is the reason that this concept is so important. This goes beyond "the golden rule" and the Threefold law and the Wiccan Rede. So here is your exercise for this concept, why is this such an important concept? How does this affect you and your life style? Write down your answers in your BOS and I am going to continue the December exercises on the next page. You have been walking the path of the Goddess for three months now, How do you feel? I realize that some of this is alot to grasp in such a short time. You really are making progress, even when it doesn't feel like it the Goddess is opening your eyes and working in your life to create change. I also want to tell you about a website that offers online teaching and after you have completed this concept you will be more then ready to join them for those more technical lessons. The Druidian Grove is a site in my Links page and I urge you to go check it out. But please don't slack off with these lessons, they all work together. |
