GEOLOGY
ROCKS, FORMATIONS, CRYSTALS,
          VOLCANOS, AND MORE

This is Capitol Reef National Park here in Utah.  The rock formations here were caused by massive flooding.  Capitol Reef is also by Fruita Utah.  Fruita has many fruit orcherds which are open to the public certain times of the year.  Flooding is still a risk so some of the sites are closed due to weather.
Because there is no hunting allowed the deer and animals will come up to you sometimes.  But no feeding them please!

This here is a picture of Bridal Veil Falls.  Although you may ask why is she putting this up here?  What does this have to do with Rocks?  Waterfalls and water in general are what create some of the most beautiful rock formations.  By fragmenting the rocks naturally we can see new colors and shapes of rocks.  It is also used to cut stones and create crstals. Therefore water is essencial in many ways to geology.
There is also the fact that some of  the old miners used to use a waterfall type of system to sift out gold in the California gold rush.

These are the Colorado Aspen Mountains.  Not only just good for skiing, but also home to wildlife and have some of the most beautiful and deadly caves.  Even in these snowy mountains there is ore, copper,  and  other precious metals that we use all the time.

This is another geological site.  This formation of waves across the mountain are made from water and flooding.  This is an excellent example of how much water effects the shape of a mountain.  As you can see the water level was high enough to sweep away quite a bit of the outer layers of the mountain.

This is the Grand Canyon.  It is one of the largest rock formations in exsistance.  One of the most beautiful places in the Western United States.

This is a cemetary overlooking a steel mill.  This is where the rocks and ore are transfered into useful metals.  Mills like this one are used to create bridges and cars as well as several other uses.  Smelters are used to melt the metal into liquid form so that when it is cooled it can take the shape of whatever mold it is cast into.  Steel is only one type of ore, there are several different types of metal and precious ore (examples: Gold and Silver).

These two pictures are of Copper Smelters.  Here in Utah,  Kennicot and other such companies use these large smelters to melt down the ore found in mines.  This ore is used for many things such as pennies and wire.  This process is necessary to shape the metal as well.  As you can see here the molten metal is placed into molds as it is poured.

I will have more information and some links to some great sites soon.  I am still working on this page so have partience. Thank You!
