POLIO CONNECTION OF AMERICA

FROM WAY OUT IN CYBERSPACE WHERE NO ONE HAS YET GONE WE RECEIVED

THIS MESSAGE

POLIO SURVIVORS KNOW FULL WELL THAT THERE IS GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS ABOUT THE

'LATE EFFECTS OF POLIO'

.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT NO ONE DIES FROM THE

'LATE EFFECTS OF POLIO'

THE BAD NEWS IS THAT NO ONE DIES FROM THE

'LATE EFFECTS OF POLIO'

.

NOTHING ELSE WAS STATED.

WE, THEREFORE MUST LEARN TO LIVE WITH OUR INCREASING FATIGUE - INCREASING PAIN - INCREASING BREATHING DIFFICULTIES - INCREASING SWALLOWING DIFFICULTIES - INCREASING INSTABILITY AND FALLING - INCREASING COLD INTOLERANCE AND OUR INCREASING LACK OF ENDURANCE AND FUNCTION

At this time we can only hope to conserve as much as we can and not make the situation worse for we know that there is only little out there to help us. Thus, we know what our problems are and we can anticipate as to what is coming.

Therefore, we must develop an agenda to meet our needs. This agenda must include and not be limited to:

1- Finding and alerting all Polio Survivors as to the 'Late Effects of Polio' and directing them to appropriate areas for assistance, be it medical or financial

2- Doing everything we can to eliminate future cases of Polio, in particular eliminating the use of the Sabin Vaccine.
Note this was accomplished effective January 1, 2000

3 - Developing a Polio Movement into a Polio Advocacy Group and doing all we can to secure funding for research on the 'Late Effects of Polio' and to meet our other needs.

These goals can be accomplished only with our mutual support and cooperation
