Yes, we came home for a couple of weeks , but we are off to new zealand on the 28 of nov. We kind of assume that anyone who would like to buy; will be coming on down, to make sure that what we are selling really is as spectacular as we claim . and seeing for themselves that what we have to offer is far, far better than we can show on our website. I am making available, some emails that i have sent to interested folks, to give you as much information as possible. Do you have a survey of the land showing the buildings? see attachment What are the measurements of each building? the main house measures about nine meters( including the front and back porches) long by about 4 1/2 meters wide . the garage and apartment are about 4 meters by 6 meters not including the deck connecting to the main house. How are the adjacent properties? . behind us and across the street are typical tico campesino houses. the neighbors are really really special people. they are a large part of what makes our location so special. to the west is a couple of acres of pasture that a friend from the states owns. below and to the southwest is a gentleman from town who is building a weekend home. Map of the immediate area? i don't have one Map showing the route into town? not available at this time. i'll keep workng on these items. If any of you have found a map of our area on the net, i would appreciate it ,so i can share it with everyone interested. Power? yes . power is to u.s. code . Water? yes. Excellent. Sewerage? yes. septic tank on n.w. corner of lot. ( we even have a spare septic tank we have never had to use.) Taxes? paid and up to date. i think they are less than $100 per year but i will have to check to be sure. if you find any maps on line of the immediate area. Please pass them on. We are located in, San Rafael de Santa Cruz, on the road from Pacayas to Turrialba. i would greatly appreciate you sending me the info as it would be very useful for everybody interested in our area. thanks, anita Hi, What is the temp there? I heard it is quite cooler. I loved the area when there not long ago. How safe is it? I am a single woman 49.. I lived in the Escazu area for 2 yrs back in 99-2001. . Do you have some fotos you could email? What crops are grown there and what is the main employment? Is the electric/hydro plant? Did you own a business there, such as rafting and canoeing? I think I called you or a place around there in this business. Thanks again. Looking forward to hearing from you! ______________________________________________ Do you have a contact person there who will handle showing the properties and legalities for you? Are there any American's, Canadian's or Europeans living close by? Or all of you moving? You are a boat captain? My brother is one on Maui. hanks again. tico tico <w7734@yahoo.com> wrote: yes the tico times has a glitch and ran our phones and website all together, with the local phone number. thanks, i 'll get it fixed asap. try www.oocities.org/w7734 for an overview of our properties and jump around from there for details and pix of our houses, and lot. i am a married boat captain , and spend lot's of time between jobs, on my own up at our properties. there are about 8 of us women who live on our own in the area without a second thought. just about everybody in our area owns their own home ( small and humble, or mansions, as they may be) and we are really all together on backing up each other and all the kids in the neighborhood up on security. about 5 years ago there were a bunch of teenagers running around raising hell and doing petty thefts.. all of us in the community put a stop to that one real fast!!!! yes. the houses are still for sale. temps in town at the duplex are 70's 80's . and on up the mountain at the cabins are high 70's, daytime and 50's at night. just about like escazu. we have clear title . no liens or problems.legal details are all in order for a fast easy sale.( please get your own lawyer and builder to confirm quality of construction and legal details.) . we expect, cash up no grumbling. price is cash in our pocket. if you need financing the banks here will be happy to help. we are sailors and it has been a real stretch to get the pics that we have. we are off to new zealand on the 28 of nov. so i am afraid no more pix in the works soon. the pix fairly and accurately represent the properties. we kind of assume that the interested parties will come on down and check out the place for themselves and see that ,if anything, it's a heck of a lot better than the pictures can showwwwww, thanks for yout interest, anita p.s. lots of rafting , kayaking, canyoning, hot air balloning , etc.and tourism in the area. we are in the best cheese producing area of costa rica. lot's of coffee, potatoes, on up the mountain and blackberries and house plants for export .we have always found it better to work a few months/ per year, in the states or anywhere in the world as captains and then come on down and enjoy our place till the money runs out and it's time to go back to work again. we've owned our places and done rentals to cover costs and a little income for years. we hope to be off round the world for the next few years and want to whittle down to one place to come back to and enjoy our rockers. Anita I am responding to your ad in the Tico Times. Do you have cable or other form of high speed internet available? Thank you. local phone service and 56kb standard modem internet connections available . cable or sat t.v. is possible .i think high speed internet is a thing of the future, it's coming but i don't think it's available yet. i just go ahead and use the easily available internet cafes' in town. Anita we are on a knob up above the immediate neighbors...what does that mean? i'll give it a shot, by knob, i mean that our neighbors, in front, behind us and to the west , are all below us. we are bordered to the east by the street. the house is above the street and the garage is on a level with the street. ( clear as mud right?) when you have your arrival date let me know so that we can make arrangemnts to be here to show you our places., anita Your explanation was perfect! ;-) Is there any hotels in town? i can reccommend hotel interamericano. Simple clean and friendly. ( the owner, and manager, are friends of ours. hotel wagelia, and hotel geliwa. Are also quite nice. Out side of town there is the turrialtico and pochotel, both with spectaclaur view. Also a bit out of town and more upscale are guayabo lodge and casa turrire. Where are your houses located outside of Turrialba and is there the possibility to by the adjoining property with either one of them. Thank you. Hi , we are about 8 km above turrialba on the road to pacayas, in verbena norte, and san rafael de santa cruz. i know one neighbor in san rafael has approached us about buying his property, in the past, and you certainly could talk to the other neighbors. in verbena norte, our neighbor built his cabin as a weekend/ vacation retreat and now that his kids are teenagers really doesn't use the place that much these days . you would have to talk to the owners but i have a feeling that it would be possible. anita -I have a few questions about your house in Costa Rica. I hope you have time to answer them. -Are you American and living in Costa Rica? If so, have you had any problems not being a citizen of that country? -How long have you lived there and in this house and why are you selling? -Are the people friendly to Americans and do a lot of them speak English, since I don't speak much Spanish? -How much are the taxes per year? -Is the drinking water from a local town or by well? I assume you have running water and flushing toilets as in America. -Would the house be "safe" if I left it 5-8 months out of the year? I'd like to have it as a vacation home for me and friends and family. -What is the crime rate there as far as personal safety walking around and the home being burglarized? I'm sure I have a lot more stupid questions but you can understand my concern about buying a home in another country. Thanks---- Hi Yes we are americans living in costa rica. there are no ownership restrictions on foreigners owning property in costa rica ( except maybe beachfront which, since we are in the mountains, i don't know anything about). We built the house in stages starting in about 1992. at the moment we have 3 houses and one building lot and very itchy feet. we plan to travel extensively over the next few years and what the heck do we need with 3 houses. We love it here, costa rica will always remain our base. yes the folks here are friendly. there are a few english speaking folks around. Turrialba is predominantly a small tico town. if you want to be in an english speaking community with just about all 'gringos', you need to consider santa ana ,or any of the pacific beach communities. they are filled with all the 'gringos' that we left the states to get away from. you'ld never even know you were in costa rica in some of them. taxes are minimal. i think i pay between $30 and $100 per year depending on which property you are talking about. Our water in san rafael de santa cruz is city water. it comes from a spring way above santa cruz and is excellent. the duplex in turrialba has city water. depending on who you talk to it's either great, or boil it before you drink it. yep we have running water, electricity, and telephone, and garbage pickup. sat t.v. is also available. in our area ,it is safe to walk anywhere . in town evening and nights are still pretty good. i know you need to avoid the area in turri town, around the old train tracks late at night, but i hear that the rest of town is still fine. most houses have lots of bars to avoid being burgled. we hate the darn things and for years, when we are traveling or don't have company staying, we pay a neighbor to stay at the place 3 nights a week varying the nights, to make the place look lived in, and that seems to take care of the problem. i hope i have answered some of your questions, feel free to email us at this address, anita Can you give me an idea where in Turialba the house is please? My firend lives in Cartago but ddrove to Turialba as a dentist for years. I wanted to ask him about the area. It would notCan you give me an idea where in Turialba the house is please? My firend lives in Cartago but ddrove to Turialba as a dentist for years. I wanted to ask him about the area. It would not Good morning, the house you see on ebay is located in san rafael de santa cruz, on the road to pacayas about 8 km above turrialba . the cabin next to the forest is abut 1 km south, off the same road, in verbena norte. the duplex, is in the town of turrialba in barrio san rafael about 250 meters south of banco de costa rica right next to the pulperia de don mario. all of them are in good neighborhoods with great neighbors. yes, you are correct to be concerned about security. most people have bars arond everything. we hate the darn things, so what we have done , when we don't have guests staying, or when we are not around( which is frequently) is to hire a neighbor to sleep at the house 3 times per week varying the days. . this has worked quite well for us over the years. for more pictures and information please check out www.oocities.org/w7734/pixpage and follow all the links. anita Greetings > I am interested in your cabin. I recently was thumbing through a book "Choose Costa Rica", retiring in Costa Rica. Sounds wonderful down there. I live in Nor. California. I would like to find a place to winter. I own my own business up here which can be run while I am away. Also I am a musician, playing Salsa. Any opportunities there to play music, clubs ect. This winter,(Jan-Feb) I would like to check out possibilities down there. Will you be around then? Thanks, we will be happy to show you the places when you come on down. musicians are always especially welcome. right now we've got a good friend who's really into jam sessions with some of his rafting buddies and clients,( basically blues) and another neighbor who is a romantic 'balladeer'. his group plays in clubs all over the central valley and also in town.if you can't find the type of groups you are looking for here, i'm sure there will be plenty available in san jose, the capital. anita |
