For those who aren't familiar with the background of this new star, here is a brief introduction to BoA (real name~Kwon BoA). She is only thirteen years old, and was discovered at the age of eleven by the top Korean Music Company, SM (which produces HOT, SES, ShinHwa, and Fly to the Sky). She has been under intensive training both in foreign languages (she is proficient in Japanese and can communicate in English) as well as vocal and dancing skills (all taught by the top Japanese instructors). SM envisions BoA to perform well in the Korean music industry and uses the success as a stepping-stone to promote throughout Asia (particularly Japan). SM hopes BoA may even go internationally someday.
With the best training and great expectation, how does BoA's premier album, Peace B, sounds? Given that SM's plan is to train BoA early on and that BoA still has a lot more learning to do, this album certainly shows the high potential for this soon-to-be young superstar. Her voice sounds refreshing and really brings out the youthfulness. At the same time, her singing skill is definitely not your typical thirteen year olds (tracks #6,10,11 show her ability to elevate her voice quite nicely). BoA's favorite music genres are R&B and dance. There are several songs in this album that show her capability to sing R&B (tracks #5 and 7), and these two songs are definitely recommended. The hit song of this album, Peace B (track #1), has the style of other groups produced by SM. This album is really quite good, and this young star will surely come out with great albums in the near future.
