April 19, 1999: Catherine Matteson, Survivor

This is a very rough "transcript in progress." It provides the flavor of what she said and the themes she struck, but cannot be relied upon for strict accuracy. There are many words I am unsure about, and many gaps in what I've been able to make out, some not indicated here. Unfortunately, a lot will probably remain unclear. There is a great deal of hiss on the tape, and she was one of the more soft-spoken speakers. Perhaps at some point I will acquire a video of the event with a good soundtrack, but for now I will be unable to offer a complete, accurate transcript.

Catherine Matteson speaking on April 19, 1999-? because the things I must? tell you is quite different from what you've ever heard. I must tell you something about the people that were inside. Not just their names. ? tell you about the children, that loved David- and how much he loved them. I want to tell you about a family that was about a hundred and fifty people. Now, Clive mentioned many of them were ?- ? of them were black. They came from all over. Many countries. We had, uh, Japanese- Chinese- they came from everywhere. And- we got along. Well, you know when ? get together, there's some friction. ? fighting. Because the message that David gave us was so deep, and so beautiful, that it changed us, inside. Oh, we still ? things we felt. We couldn't have. And we are certainly not perfect. But, fundamentally, when you get a hundred and fifty people from all over the world together, they're not going to get along, because they're, huh, they come from all different sections. They have different ideas. But David gave us something that no one else in the world had. And I am so- thankful, that I was one of the people that was here. Because I lived here ?- I was so thankful, to have gotten what he gave. Because I'll tell you, it was better than any university, uh, could give you. Much better. The depth of the scriptures was tremendous. The type of things he gave us about science. Things the scientists don't know. He touched on many different subjects. But he brought the Bible together. Each- text. That we learned first? ?- then chapters- ?- and then books. And let me tell you, ? at first I thought, "Man, all these young people here, how am I going to keep up?" Then I realized God could keep me up. And that's what happened. But he ?- put them together like a jigsaw puzzle, and showed that every single one of them was talking about the same thing.

He also gave us experiences that we never had had before in our life. Getting along with people- understanding them. And getting the scriptures ? understanding.

This place, has always been a special place to me. It's never been beautiful- Our homes, that we had originally, weren't beautiful. And when, ? decided to ?, uh, build that big house, it was not beautiful. But there was something there I'd never found anywhere else. And the family I found was like no other. We had, at first we started to have programs that were unusual, for anyone that considered themselves Bible students ?. We got together, and, uh... Sometimes we had entertainment from the people that were there. Sometimes ?. Sometimes David would bring in- at the very end, he was starting to bring in, different, uh, videos, to teach us something. We saw videos not for entertainment, we saw videos to learn something from everything that was shown. He opened our minds- and our understanding- of ?.

Uh, I started to tell you about the children. Our children- you know, I had been there so long, that I had kind of lost track of what the world was like. And when I came out and saw the children of the world and how they acted- huh- I was appalled! How they could, manipulate their families! How they could get what they wanted! Our children were- mature. One day I was standing in the, in the, we had a big, uh, dining room- and two of the children were walking in the back of the house because there was a path ? that, uh, by a child. And they were walking, and they were walking like- ?. It was just an attitude of- maturity, that I didn't see outside when I came out. When I saw the children that were outside. Because they hadn't had, what our children had. Many of them died. Unfortunate to say, but that CS gas ? those kids ? got pushed in on where the children were, because they were the children.

They wanted every one of us killed. When I saw the helicopters come in and pump in all that- ammunition into David's room, it- was about three months before I came out of the shock. It wasn't then till I realized what was really going on. And since I didn't have contact ? one thing that I never would have believed otherwise. That, our government was in a bad situation. ? the government, it's people lying. Anyway, just like I told them, "I'm not out to kill anybody. I don't have to. I'm waiting for them to get their judgment. Devil? reward. And I told them, and I know they ? up to the phone, and they would ? it so bad at home, ? I said, "Well if you want to shoot me, fine, I'll say thank you. I don't care whether you shoot me or not."

When the trials were on they would not let me in. They would not let me in. I sat in the rotunda, all the while the trials were going on, I thought then, "I'm going to show them that I am not afraid of them." And I'm not. They're just men. They think they control everything. But I tell you what. God is in charge. [M: "Amen."] And when David comes back, and he's going to come back- I think every one of you ?, because he's going to bring the Seven Seals to every body- that will listen. And that's the thing that's going to change, it's going to, uh, decide your ?. And where you're going to be. If you're going to be with God or against Him. And when you hear the Seven Seals, which is the whole book- it's just not parts of Revelation. Parts of Revelation, you read it and it sounds like there's nothing there! But I'll tell ya. The ? are there. But you have to have someone who knows what it's all about to ? you. And it's going to amaze everybody. What David had. And why he did what he did. He never did anything, that- on his own. God always told him what to do. In fact, lots of times, he wanted to do things, and God said, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no." One time, he kept wanting something so bad, God finally said, "OK- but I'm going to punish you." And he went out ? for this particular person- who turned away- And he finally came- he got at home, he got back in California, and, hah, a couple of the guys were there, said, "We had a fire at one of the houses," we had two houses there. And he thought, "There goes my hands!" Because he was a carpenter, he was a mechanic, he had built race cars ?. He had been a carpenter from the time he was 14- his father had been, his grandfather, uh, uh, ?. And everything he did, he was a guitar player. And I'll tell ya, I'd never heard anybody that could play the guitar like him. I could sit there while he was practicing, and enjoy it! But ?. Whether you believe it, or not. And everybody's so concerned about, Y2K, Y2K. That is not something that just happened. That has been planned. Everything that's been happening has been planned. It's part of a program. And I had the book on this years ago, and I threw it away because I thought ?. But then somebody else sent it to me from Canada and ? it for ? years. And I thought, "Oh, man!" Because some of the things had already been done. But you're going to see things that you will not believe happen. Right here in Waco, he predicted, that there's going to be an earthquake- And when that earthquake hits- can't go back. Lois took me over to Old Mt. Carmel, which is over near the big lake. And she- I used to ?, because I worked with her all the time. And, uh, finally, the second time, she says ?. The first time he went over there, he came back ? trying to find the fault, that is over there. He said, "I know where it begins, I know where it ends, " he said, "When that earthquake hits," he said, "it's going to be a drop of 15 feet over there, and that water's going to come into Waco and pour? down the river. And he said, "the people over there, in those gorgeous houses, they're gonna leave and never go back- because of ?" ? over and take them ?. But, uh- he was al- he would say this a couple of times, "I'm afraid people in town have forgotten what a ? rather have." But I'm gonna leave, and, uh, thank you for listening. [applause]
