Brian and I reside
in southeastern Pennsylvania, about 3 hours northwest of Philadelphia.
We were born and raised in this area, and our families still reside here.
We live in a small country community, with a population of about 5 thousand
people. Although the population has grown since we moved in 4 years
ago.
We enjoy living
here in the country, we are both not city people. We like to smell
the fresh country air, and love to look at our colorful mountains.
We like the open spaces, the friendly neighbors, and the peace and quiet.
Not very much traffic on our little township road, other then the school
bus and others who reside here.
We enjoy the fall
foilage, the crisp fall air, and the chilly nights. Our temperatures
here around this time are around 40 degrees at night and are close to 65
degrees during the day. We have no snow here yet, but usually close
to Thanksgiving we get a dusting or two.
Our snowfall here
is around 24 inches or so. It really depends on the year. We
have had heavier snowfalls here a few years ago. In 1996 we had over
5 feet of snow in a few days, and back in 1976 we double that amount.
Our snow usually falls around Christmas time, although the last few years,
our Christmas's have been green.
Our area here is
known for it's ice storms a few times a year. We get some real bad
ones here where the ice is a few inches thick on the road ways. Of
course it makes things worse when it snows on top of it. It can be
a real mess. In weather like that you need a snowmobile not a 4x4.
When you stand in
our front living room, you can see the Appalachian Mountain range in front
of you. The Mountain range runs the east coast from Georgia to Maine,
and has many trails for visitors to hike. We of course are not the
hiking type, but they are beautiful to look at. We have many lakes
and parks in our area. We do occassionally take a drive to one of
these parks and enjoy the scenery.
Many who live here
take for granted what a beautiful area we live in. We are surrounded
with farmland, mountains, and beautiful colors of fall. Who wouldn't
want to live here?
I will be adding
some photos of our area real soon. I am having problems with my scanner,
so it may take a while.
But we would love
for you to visit our area if you get the opportunity. Come visit
PA!
Please feel free
to email us, we would love to hear from you.
