I would
like to personally welcome you and thank you for sharing this special day
with us. We are glad you could make it.
Our day started out fairly normal, Brian was on his way to his mother's house to get changed and I to my parents. We had done pretty much everything the night before to get ready, so all we needed to do was change. My mother was driving me to the church and Brian was going to drive with friends of ours who were driving in the wedding. The morning was fairly cool, however it warmed up quickly. By 3pm, which is when we were standing at the alter, it was 98 degrees outside in the shade. The church is a small country church with no A/C, and we had about 100 people attend the ceremony. After the ceremony was over and we could get to the door, most of us headed outside, because it was twice as hot inside the church. We greeted everyone as they left the church, and took a few more pictures outside for our album. After
the photographer was finished taking pictures, the wedding party got into
their respected cars we had waiting for us to take us to the reception.
We had a few hours to kill before the reception, so we drove around and
stopped at the nearest convenient store for a soda. Dressed in all
our garb, the men went and bought soda's for everybody. We continued
to the local lake and took a few more pictures of the cars and the wedding
party before we headed to the reception. We arrived at the reception
about 20 minutes before the DJ was ready to announce us. Luckily
the reception hall had A/C, so it was alot better then at the church.
After the announcing of the wedding party, we sat down to a cold buffet.
The DJ
played a few selections while we ate dinner, and our best man stood up
to give the toast. And a short toast it was. After the toast,
we decided to cut the cake and do a few of our traditional dances.
I had
selected the music that was to be played, and the DJ started with the dance
for the parents. I had selected "House of the Rising Sun" by the
Animals, for my parents because it was their song for as long as I can
remember. Next the DJ played "Look At Us" by Vince Gill for Brian's
parents. They seemed to enjoy the dance, then it was our turn.
Brian and I had decided on our favorite song, "Nothing At All" by Alisson
Kraus.
After our dance, I chosen "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin for our wedding party to dance to. By this time, most of our guests had joined in and the dance floor was full of not only the wedding party, but everyone else. After the necessities were over, the DJ played a mix of country and pop. The kids seemed to enjoy it and a few of the others. It was a rough crowd to get up on the floor to dance. I guess you have this at weddings. But we tried our best to enjoy the evening. After
the reception was over, Brian and I went back to my parent's house to count
up the takings from the bridal dance, and our gifts. The wedding
party had rented a cottage for the weekend for us, and it was only about
5 miles from where we live, so we had plenty of time to spend with the
family before we left.
Well the
honeymoon was a bust. Brian is not one for going anywhere to sleep
overnight, he needs his own bed to sleep in. So, after our little
midnight snack, we headed home. Our roommate was surprised to see
us, he wasn't expecting us till the next morning. We enjoyed our
night at the cottage, but it just wasn't what we had expected, or what
we wanted. We have yet to have a trip of any kind since we are together.
Something is always popping up, or we just can't get together on where
we want to go.
Please
feel free to leave your name in our guestbook, we would love to hear from
you.
