LINKS TO OTHER ENTRIES OF MY HOMEPAGE
Dear Reyer School, God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizen's luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the county home for the aged. All my people are gone. It's nice to know that someone thinks of me. God bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady. My roommate is 95 and always had her own radio, but would never let me listen to it. The other day her radio fell and broke into a lot of pieces. It was awful. She asked if she could listen to mine, and I said fuck you. Sincerely, Edna Johnston Tsinoy says: Hmmmmmmmmmm, I think I have met a few "sweet" little old ladies like her...Way to gooooooo, grandma! (LOL ) In such a situation, Filipinos would say (w/ tongues sticking out): beeeeeeeeee, buti nga! (serves you right!) Buddhists have a term for it: KARMA! While the Chinese geomancers would say: the cosmic energy of feng-shui is at work. The Taoists would prefer to use the term lun hui (returning on the circle). This is akin to the Australian boomerang that goes back to you when you throw it away. Sir Isaac Newton could explain it through his principle of cause and effect. But my favorite is the Christian adage: do unto others what you want others to do unto you. Folks, our guest mystic for this page is the poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox. Her poem on "Solitude" speaks a lot on the effects of our action on other people. Portions of the poem are quoted below: Laugh, and the world laughs with you; Weep, and you weep alone. For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth, But has trouble enough of its own. .... Rejoice, and men will seek you; Grieve, and they turn and go. They want the full measure of all your pleasure, But they do not need your woe. Be glad and your friends are many; be sad, and you lose them all. There are none to decline your nectared wine, But alone you must drink life's gall --- The poem tells us that whatever attitude we adopt is exactly what we will attract in our life. This attitude is how our soul manifests itself in physical form. And the personality that emerges becomes the energy used by the soul to adapt to the physical world. Human relationship is therefore an interaction of various energy fields. This field is created by how we think and process our experiences wherever we are in the world. If our energy field emits anger, we will attract hostility. If we show sadness, we will attract emptiness. But if we are cheerful, we radiate mirth to people around us. So folks, the next time you hear Christ's admonition to "love your enemies as I have loved you," you better trust His words. Just think of all that wasted energy spent on plotting to get back on someone you hate. It will sap your strength. It will rob you of your sanity. And for the vain among you, the frown that you wear on your face will make you look years older! |

Gary Zukav's Thoughts on Karma A personalized statement on karma would be, "You receive from the world what you get from the world". Karma is not a universal dynamic. Morality is a human creation. The Universe does not judge. The law of Karma governs the balancing of energy within our system of morality and within those of our neighbors. It serves humanity as an impersonal and Universal Teacher of responsibility. More on Gary The personality does not operate independently from the soul. To the extent that a person is in touch with spiritual depths, the personality is soothed because the energy of conciousness is focused on its energy core and not on its artificial facade, which is the personality. Non-judgmental justice is a perception that allows you to see everything in life, but does not engage your negative emotions. It relieves you of the self-appointed job of judge and jury because |

When someone projects warmth, sincerity and love, we say that person has a magnetic personality. He is cool. But then, an obnoxious person has a "magnetic" personality too. Except that he repels. He is gross. That is because he would rather use the negatively-charged end of the magnet. It is like losing one's attachment to the energy of the soul. It is the result of the personality being unable to find the reference point - or connection - to the mothership, which is the soul (Gary Zucav, Seat of the Soul). In like manner, we can view the state of sinfulness as the state of soullessness. That is, being in the state of sin is being out of touch with your higher self.

Perhaps, what the Poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox wants us to do when we are experiencing the negatives in her poem, such as sadness, sighing and weeping, is to snap out of it by asking ourselves, "Who really wants to be around me when I'm this way?" Shifting out of that state is equivalent to breaking the vicious cycle of negative intentions. This can be done by consciously making an effort to deflect the negativity by doing the opposite. By being cheerful instead of wearing a frown. By being supportive instead of being critical. By forgiving more and harboring less grudge. By being hopeful instead of despairing. More trust and less doubt. More joy and less sadness. And by spreading more love instead of hatred. For, after all, life is too short to be spent on brooding or despairing at the situation we find ourselves in. We need to lighten up a bit. For the lighter we take ourselves, the more fun we will attract into our lives. Cheers. And spread cheerfulness around. It will work wonders for you. Ask Edna Johnston. Tsinoy |
