Around 1988, 2 guys, Die Toten Hosen fans, with nothing better to do decided to use the Disco at the youth central there to play DTH songs. One known as Kreini thought this was very cool & helped them out. After a few weeks, one of the DTH-Disco founders had a clever idea, why don't they play the music themselves! So Mücke says, "I'm singer" & it was so, leaving Olly, AKA Peppie, to play guitar, well, if he could get his hands on a guitar that is...
One was finally purchased at a second-hand music store w/ Christmas money the guys had scraped together. On a perpetual mission to find new members for their band, they finally recruited Serdar, a Turkish friend, to play drums, Andreas, AKA Skinny, to play second guitar & Kreini to take up the bass. The band's name? Die Blauen Engel!
The youth central had a practice room w/ alot of stuff already there, all they needed was a bass w/ amp & a second guitar amp. This was done but even after several weeks they still really couldn't play much of anything.
In the meantime, Serdar quit & Dirk joined but before even a first song of any kind could be created, Dirk took off! Guess he didn't really like the drums... So Kreini, great guy that he is, took the sticks in hand. Months later, there went Skinny, BYE!
So Olly got to know the guitarist of a group called "Lambrusco-Kids". After the first live gig of the 3 Blauen Engel, said guitarist, Thomas, joined the band as bass player. But Thomas, who didn't like the bass because he was a rocking guitar player got fellow "Lambrusco-Kids" member, Frank, to take up said hated position. 5 members, wow!
All was good until the day someone saw on a TV show called, "The Pyramid", a band called Die Blauen Engel who were presenting their new release. Thieves! Now the band needed a new name! After some shows under various names, they finally all agreed on the current one, Wahre Lügen.
Then a new low stage came... Olly, AKA Peppie, had to leave, so Thomas found Anil from the band "Biermudas".
After a long training period w/ Anil, a demo-tape was released in 1994 called, "Pflichtkauf", after which the CD, "Der Wahnsinn hat Methode" appeared in 1996. At this same time, the record label, "Lügen-Imperium" was created so the band could do everything themselves.
1997 was the year of a second demo-tape, "Das Individuum ist nur eine Zelle"
Then the hammer fell yet again... Mücke had fallen out w/ the rest of the band & quit so the search began for the perfect new singer... Anil knew someone who was familiar w/ several songs, would like to play w/ them & had a decent voice & Olly (not AKA as Peppie) joined the band! Then in 2000, Anil, who was studying sound engineering, gave up his guitar & refused to be anything but the band technician... What to do, what to do... Give Olly the guitar, make him play, yeah, that's it!
So as it stands now... let me think... we have Olly singing & playing guitar, Thomas playing guitar instead of bass, Frank playing bass, like he's supposed to be doing & Kreini playing drums instead of bass! Wow, Kreini's really hung in there! Awesome!
Und die Welt sich dreht...
