Frequently asked Questions

Who are Wakefield Villa ?

W V .JFC where formed in May 2001 and represent Skelmersdale in the Leigh and District Youth League

The Club is F.A Registered, has Child Protection Policy, First Aid, Player Insurance and Public Liability.

Where can I found out more about Wakefield Villa?

The team have a web site where you can read more and also see the Girls Team information.

Why Wakefield ?

Wakefield Inspection Services, Liverpool are the team sponsors.

Why start a Girls team(s)

Wakefield Villa have a development program for their club and introducing Girls Football is part

of their attempt to attain F.A. Charter Standard. There is a shortage of Girls Football in Skelmersdale

and we would also like to help West Lancs Sports Divisions Girls Football Project

Are Wakefield Villa Girls Independent of Wakefield Villa

Yes, but we are being assisted with advice, equipment share etc.

What are our aims in forming Wakefield Villa Girls

To bring together girls at under 10 age which is year 4 year 5 or born after August 31st 1993 to play Girls

Football. The training will be open to new members who we hope will become Wakefield Girls in the

West Lancashire Girls Football League.

If we have enough interest then we shall develop two teams to participate. Anyone who does not

make the one or two teams will still be welcome for training as there is always room for "extra legs".

We want everyone to enjoy training with the team play as a bonus.

What can I do to help?

Wakefield Villa Girls will require your assistance with many things such as bringing your daughter to

training and safely picking them up. We expect at time there will be a lot of children training and

you can assist in training. We need a good parent base to ensure that at times we can get to games,

yes we may need your help with transport. If you see an area where you can assist, ask !!!

When will the team play ?

The team will play on a Saturday or Sunday. This is a league rule and the home team have choice of

playing day. We will be utilising Liverpool Road for home games.

Where will the team train ?

We hope to train at Skelmersdale Sports Centre and where possible outside to give practice on grass.

What are they required to bring to training ?

Please wear sport and not normal clothing. Wear shin pads bring a drink. Subs £1.00

How long will training be?

Ideally we would like to have two hours per week, this may be over two days and allows more time to

introduce different drills.

How much do I have to pay?

We will do not have a joining fee, this is because children may come only once. There will "subs" which we

anticipate at £1.00 per session. This will be reviewed as we form teams.

Do you need sponsorship help ?

Yes, to run two teams we require a lot of funds for everything from Kits to hireing sports centres, referees etc.

ANY, help is appreciated.

If I have any questions who do I call?

Mike Bowker is the Manager and his contact details are:-

6 Greenway Ave. 01695 51472
