Firstfruits Wave Offering

CUSTOM OF FIRSTFRUITS WAVE OFFERING: Directly after the Passover Meal, the High Priest would go into seclusion to prepare for the next offering. He needed to remain ritually pure until it was completed, so he stayed away from people to keep from being made unclean.   He was to perform the offering the morning after the next weekly Sabbath. (on Sunday morning)  It was to be performed at 6:00AM.  He was to go and gather a bundle of the grain now ready for harvest.  This was known as the Firstfruits Offering.  The High Priest was to "wave" it before the altar of the Lord at this prescribed time.

Here's where it starts getting good again!  We know Jesus was resurrected on the 3rd day.  We know that Mary arrived while it was still dark.(John 20:1).  We know that He spoke with her and told her not to touch him "because I have not yet ascended to the Father".  Why?  Because he was now officially our High Priest, and he needed to present the Firstfruit Wave Offering before His Father in Heaven!  We also know that he later allowed Himself to be touched by Thomas.  So somewhere in between these two meetings, Jesus ascended to the Father.  Now, we can understand what He was doing.  Jesus, the first to be raised from the dead became the first of the Firstfruits of the Harvest.  Remember the people from Matthew 27?  Mat 27:52  The tombs were opened, and the bodies of many holy people who had died came back to life. Mat 27:53  They came out of the tombs after he had come back to life, and they went into the holy city where they appeared to many people. Who were these people?  THE FIRST OF THE HARVEST OF SOULS!  JESUS  TOOK SOME OF THE OLD TESTAMENT SAINTS WITH HIM TO HEAVEN TO "WAVE" HIMSELF AND THEM BEFORE THE FATHER...IN ORDER TO FULFILL THE LAW OF THE WAVE OFFERING!  Once again, "fulfilling the Law" in all details and in all timing.

Firstfruits Wave Offering 1. After Passover, High Priest goes into seclusion until the morning following the weekly sabbath. (Sunday morning, 6:00 hour) 2. High Priest gathers a  bundle of the first grain harvest. 3.  High Priest waves the bundle in front of the temple altar and presents it to God. 4. High Priest can then come out of seclusion and mingle with people again.

How Jesus Fulfilled the Firstfruits Wave Offering 1. Jesus goes into seclusion (the grave) for  3 days and 3 nights.  Then resurrection occurs. 2. Jesus, as our High Priest now gathers the firstfruit harvest (those people who were resurrected and were seen around the town) 3. Jesus, takes them and “waves” them before God in the Heavenly Temple. 4.  Jesus can then be touched as he mingles with the people.
