Waldo Weathers Biography Waldo Weathers is an International Vocal and Sax sensation! Quoting Waldo, "I've always been concerned with making music that's real, music that makes people move and dance and most of all music that makes people feel good". And that is exactly what he does... MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD! Waldo began playing in a soul band called The Night Lighters (later called New Birth), at the age of twelve in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Moving to Texas, Waldo began working in the country music industry, playing with mega-stars like Charley Pride and Johnny Taylor. From there he cut his first country single--- "She Believes in Me." Upon hearing the playback, the session engineer said, "if that ain't country, I don't know what is." For many years, Waldo has been and continues to be the only black sax man in country music circles. Through his Texas connections, Waldo moved to Nashville and began working with the likes of Charley Pride, and Delbert McClinton. Weathers credits Boots Randolph as being a prime inspiration, and the main man who encouraged him to play country sax. Going back to his original roots in Funk and R&B, Waldo began touring with the Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown. This opened the door for Waldo to play the sax and lend his vocals with Dr. John, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and The Endeavors, to name a few. He has played stateside venues such as The House of Blues, to Maxwells in Paris. He has played at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, Woodstock(II), and the Montreaux Jazz Festival. Most recently, he toured France and Spain, headlining with his own entourage of musicians to rave reviews from the critics. Waldo resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
