ECNE:  The god who was Dana's grandson.

EDAIN:  The goddess (Queen) of the Tuatha Dé Danann who is associated with horseback-riding. She is probably equivalent to the Gaulish goddess Epona.

EFNISIEN:  Twin to Nisien and half-brother to Bran and Branwen.

EOSTRE: Anglo-Saxon goddess of Spring. Worshipped at festivals all over Britain. She gave her name to Easter and some of the present folk customs performed at that time may be traced to her cult.

Also known as: OSTARA.

EPONA: Although her cult was more widespread in Europe, Epona (the goddess of horsemen and animals) found a special place in Britain with her Mythos appearing in the stories of Rhiannon and Macha.

She is depicted as:
1) a woman riding a fast horse, her cloak billowing behind her
2) riding a mare with a foal, associating her with fertility
3) as a semi-naked woman seated on a throne with two foals feeding from her lap.

He festival is on December 18th. Her shrines, found in every stable, were decorated with garlands of roses. One of her symbols is the “Key which unlocks the Underworld.” She is also known as the bringer of dreams.

ERUI: An Irish goddess, the personification of Ireland. Her father is the Dagda, and her husband is Mac Greine. Her husband was a Fomorian and she is the mother of Bres, king of Ireland. The name Ireland comes from her name. She is the “Controller of the Western apple garden of immortality.”

Also known as: ERI, EIRE, EIRIU, and EYRE.

ETAIN(1): Second wife of Midir and a Queen of the Tuatha Dé Danann, she was transformed into a butterfly by Midir’s angry/jealous first wife Fuamnach. Fuamnach then caused a wind to blow her out of Midir’s castle and she ended up in Aongus Og’s castle where she spent many years until discovered by Fuamnach. She was then blown away from her new home and ended up falling into a glass of wine and being drank by the wife of Etar, one of Conchobhar's champions. Nine months later she was reborn as Etain(2).

ETAIN(2): The daughter of the wife of Etar, she grew up to be wed to the High King Eochaidh. When she was discovered by Midir, he recognized her as his wife in a new form and took her back to the Otherworld. After a time Eochaidh forced Midir to return her.

ETAIN(3): Daughter of Dian Cecht, often listed as the wife of the god Ogma. She is listed as the mother of the poet-god Caipre (Coipre), and also of Daelbaeth, Dana, and Tuireann. Later traditions identify her as the wife of Cermait, mother of Mac Cecht, Mac Caill, and Mac Greine. Some say that Cermait is Ogma Cermait. She was reported as the object of a rape by Lug’s poet Abcan, which gave issue to Senbecc, another poet-harper.

ETAIN(4): (Shining One) An early goddes of ancient Ireland. She was a triple goddess of sun, water, horses, fragrance, beauty, music, and the transmigration of souls.

ETHLIN: Daughter of Balor and mother to Lugh. Due to a prophecy that his grandchild would kill him, Balor had Ethlin locked away in a tower. Cian, with the help of the druidess Birog disguised himself as a woman and gained entry to and mated with Ethlin.

Also known as: ETHNIU.

ETHNE: An ancient Irish goddess that subsisted on the milk from a sacred cow from India.
