In 1988 Rick began racing. He teamed up with Scott Ritter and built a Ford Pinto in which he ran in the 4-cylinder class. Rick would end up winning 3 heats in his rookie season and also finishing in the top 20 in points. Rick would continue to run in the 4-cylinder class for the next 7 years. He would compile a total of seven feature wins in the 4 cylinders.
In the winter of 93, the pinto was sold and a late model frame and body were bought. Rick’s success in his initial season in the late models was greater then the team expected. Rick would end up winner 3 features and being named the 1994 Rookie of the year. He would also finish 3rd in points in that season.
1995 would be a championship season for Rick. On his way to the point title Rick would pick up 7 feature wins. And even more impressive then that he would end up competing in every lap that season in both the heats and features.
Since Rick’s 95 championship season he has been competing in the Late Model Class at both Mountain Speedway (Formerly Evergreen) and also Mahoning Valley Speedway. Running consistently in the top 10 in points.
Rick has 25 career wins and in also a member of the prestigious 20 win club at Mahoning Valley Speedway. 
During the winter of 03, Rick put an order in for a brand  new Speedboys chassis.
Rick's plans for 04 are to return to MVS and race to win and to "have fun".
