TR3a, 2TS 81417L. s/n indicates built in late 1960.

This car has been parked since 1970, so the story goes. 49,xxx miles on the clock, registered as a '62- the mileage could be original, in theory, if it was a summer car.
I was hooked on it right away. Look at the lines! Think of the potential! Well, it looks pretty good from a quarter mile away....the frame had lots of grease and oil all down its length and was remarkably solid, and the engine wasn't seized, so the deal was struck.
A bit of body work, some tinkering under the hood....needs a windshield and some headlights...

The rusty rocker seems like it would be pretty typical for a car of that era. Turns out the rusty rocker is actually right over top of the original, even rustier rocker.

I guess it will ultimately need a paint job. Deciding on the colour has been about the hardest decision of the restoration. I want to go with a darker colour but I still don't know, except that it would be a bit easier to keep the interior red. I am leaning toward Conifer, a dark bluish green as found on some years of TR4s. Or maybe navy. Or, possibly some kind of light silver.

Addendum: I have decided on a light silver, as found on an 85 Jaguar XJ6. I think it will look right with the red interior.
I never wanted wire wheels anyway, as they are such high maintenance.
Those whitewalls are 5.90 x 15 bias plies. Must have handled well..
