FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The box in all it's glory:

This is what the website shows you:

And this is what I found:

Although it was obvious the box had suffered some hard knocks on it's way from Hong Kong to Israel,
inside everything was in pristine condition. Two wing halves, taped together with masking tape,
with a carbon rod already inserted in each one. A fuse with two pushrods and carbon rod already in place,
a hard plastic red nose cone in place, the vertical stab as an integral part of the molded fuse,
the rudder pre bevelled and pre hinged. The pushrods already have a pre-bend "Z" for the servoarms,
and threaded clevises for the control horns. A horizontal stab with the elevator prebevelled
and pre-hinged. A blue painted EPP canopy. And plastic bag with some more goodies; two stickers,
two control horns with backplate, two pieces of double sided sticky foam, a piece of coroplast,
an extra nosecone (with a hole in the center for aero towing), two toothpicks (!)and a whole roll of fibertape.
How complete would you like your ARF to be?

First impression straight out of the box? An A+.

The fuse had masking tape all around, probably from when the fuse halves where glued together.

I peeled the tape of, and had a good look at it. The box (and the instruction sheets) mention
standard sized servos can be used. For a beginner, that would be great. More often then not
they start of with 2nd hand equipment, and there is a better 2nd hand market for standard servos
then the mini or micro ones (at least here in Israel there is).
There is ample room for the servos, Rx and battery in the cockpit, and the servo tray is pre-formed.
Just drop the servos in and connect them to the pushrods!

I moved the rudder about a bit, and noticed it did not move freely to the right (the bevelled side).
At a closer look, the bevel was not entirely straight, and the rudder was taped too close to the
stab to be able to give full movement to both sides. I fixed that by removing the tape,
sanding the bevel a bit and re-taping the rudder, taking care to allow for full left/right movement.

After that I naturally checked the elevator and horizontal stab and found the same
problem there. So the elevator got the same treatment.

Now the "real" building starts!
