WINDRIDER'S EASY GLIDER GLIDES EASY!!!

Well, I finally did it! And a sweet little glider she is.
Definitely a keeper. But I digress...

I arrived at the slope with perfect slope conditions. After
assembly I did a quick check that all servos worked (more about that later!) and a range check.
Then a throw test to see she floated ok, and all systems go!

A gentle toss and of she went.

At first I tried flying using rudder/ailerons but found that the rudder was extremely in-effective.
Nevertheless, I realy enjoyed those first 10 minutes of flight, getting the "feel", but was a bit displeased
with the turning ability. For arguments' sake I decided to try a few turns on rudder only...
I did say I had checked that all servos worked, didn't I? Well, maybe I should have
also checked which way they moved? If you hadn't guessed yet, the rudder servo
was not moving the right direction.
Left was right and right was left. I know some politicians like that...

A landing was called out, rudder servo reversed, re-launch and...

aaaaaaah... purrrrrrfection.

Now, about the flying; keeping in mind she's meant to be a trainer she's no speed
demon but can move about at a nice clip. When using rudder only (moving in the correct
direction this time) she turns ssssllllllowly, without loosing much speed/altitude.
Again, for a trainer that's a good thing. I tried a few times to stall. She slows down
admirably, then allmost yells out at you "the right wing, the right wing" before
slowly dropping the right wing. That is, most of the time the right wing, but on a few occasions
it was the left wing. The point is, you get plenty of warning, and plenty of time to correct/recuporate.
When using both rudder and ailerons you can make nice swooping turns. I was pleasantly surprised
with the speed retention, considering the light weight glider she is and the thick wing profile.
I even succeeded in doing some high stalled turns, diving for speed, pulling up (essentially a "half pipe"),
kicking in full rudder near the top, and making a perfect arch.
For the video I tried to stay close, and found that with the right amount and timing of rudder and
ailerons very tight turns can be made with very little loss of speed or altitude.

So, am I happy with my Easy Glider? YOU BET I AM!!!
Try one. You won’t be sorry!
Oh, and the video clip mentioned is here
