The Vision. (Goes directly to outside web site.)
This poetical rendering of Doctrine and Covenants 76, published in Nauvoo in 1843, is the only poem extant supposed to have been written by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Close textual comparisons, however, lead one to suspect that W. W. Phelps was the author. For a long period Phelps served as a personal scribe for Joseph. The poem is a response to Phelps' "Vade Mecum" (Goes directly to ouytside web site.)
