These leds have a life rating of 100,000 hours, if you turned it on right now and never turned it off it would last over 11 years. Each led comes with the proper size resistor that allows it to be hooked up to 12v. It uses only (mW) of power so these wont drain your battery. There is no limit to where you can put these. They are only 5mm round, but really bright. They also work great off of a 9 volt battery so you can use them other than in your car, for example halloween costumes, backpacks, bikes, the list is never ending.
