JOSHUA TREE National Park

Joshua Tree National Park was awesome! ...Such a shame that there was nothing good to climb there... ;)

We spent much of our time weaving around the cayote obstacle courses and watching experts waltz up routes we could only dream of climbing.

Often, we clung to some hold or another at a crux move and wondered why we had ever invested in rock shoes in the first place...

The one thing we were good at was dealing with the 'heat', which drove most people off to early lunches... :)

Back at camp, Summer's friend, Marlene, helped us whip up some kickin' burgers and a killer salad. She also introduced us to 'WetOnes', which, in this place with no water source, were magically able to keep us from stinking to high Heaven. ;)

The next morning was brightened by the arrival of friend, Daryl Balzer - and dimmed by the absence of TP in the restrooms. :O
After Alex & Summer zoomed off to catch their plane, Daryl stayed on to do some bouldering with us at the Dairy Queen Wall - and watch in bemused silence as we shelled out a small fortune for souvenirs.

If you're thinking about checking out J. Tree, do it. Do it. Do it. Do it! Just don't forget to bring some WetOnes.... and an extra roll of TP!
