Source is the terminology I use to describe God and I will therefore use that term exclusively now. Source is and was and always will be. To me there is no time but to describe it to you I must use these conceptions of time. Source is the universe and anything of any definition within this aforesaid universe. I am Source as you are and my lamp is Source. Source is the capital 's' I just used as well as the lower case one. The only physical representation I have ever witnessed to present this Source is the idea of a wave. Especially the kind you find within physics. Imagine if you will the entire universe as being a succession of waves. This wave is in constant motion however, and carries the entirety of the knowable within its sway. That is why the universe is ever changing and at the same time seems to be a constant. Contradiction, but hey what religious idea is not fraught with contradiction?
So I suppose it is easiest to say that I believe that Source is a megalithic wave. A wave that is the universe or at least the backdrop or grid work of the universe. This wave may have no sentience other than the fact that it knows of its own existence. The knowledge of I am for us is not necessarily the same concept for the Source in this case. I indicates a separateness from other distinguishable I's, which we derive from the fact that appears to be many I's in the world if not in the universe. However for the conception of I to appear within Source there would have to be some separate identifiable existence from it itself. The only other I for Source would be the I of itself and therefore the I would never exist for itself. If I can never exist it certainly cannot separate itself into distinct gender orientations or race or even human. It would not ever even 'see' itself, as there is no separate essence from it because all is it. It cannot look itself in the mirror because it is the mirror. We perceive the world as being full of pain and misery when it is only to the type of existence we have in this universe. To be truly honest, what is a perfect existence to creatures that can distinguish themselves from every other them self? Can there be one place that we all would call heaven? Is there even one place that we all can call hell? If Source, or in this scenario, God, is transcendent of us, can we ever understand perfection from his viewpoint? How are we to be certain that for a divinity that is not shaped like us that this isn't perfection? To assume that God is shaped like us is the greatest form of vanity. I have been guilty of this indiscretion as we all have. Nobody can tell me that they have never thought why things are this way? What if it is very necessary? What if the entirety of existence depends upon it? I realize that these are questions that I cannot answer, but if you read the questions carefully, should we ever answer them? We need to relax our tensions of I and allow ourselves to be. The I is the thing that causes our spiritual death. It is also the thing that can cause us to wake up. It seems quite often that the Chinese religions come closer to Source than any western tradition. However, even the Chinese traditions are focused on the I in relation to the world (Confucius), or the I in relation to itself. We are not to forget the world of man; we are not even to forget ourselves. We need only concern ourselves with what is at the now and how it relates to the all. This sound hokey but it isn't. The only people that will not understand this example are those that have a fear of water. Imagine yourself floating in water, the kind of experience that is almost to the point of sensory deprivation. Your are not quite shut off from the world but away from it enough to only have the experience of the floating on the water. This is especially of note if there are waves that are moving you or carrying you. If your ears are below the water the sound can carry the one sound. If all is quiet, then you hear the sound of the universe. That sound you hear differently in a seashell. You can even hear it in the bathtub. It only comes when you are alone. The sensation of floating will give you the impression that nothing else exists. You know very well of all the rest of existence. You know it is just a matter of swimming back to shore and it all is there. But at this moment it is distant to the point of being unnecessary. It is still necessary but it is akin to having entered a different realm of existence. It is like being in the flow of energy. It is like being part of a power greater than yourself, and you know you were present in it all along but had forgotten its import. You know this power is what holds you and everything else. It is what causes your taxes even in a certain sense. Yet it is also what causes moments like this to take place. You always thought you were indifferent to this energy but at moments like this you realize it is not that you were indifferent, but completely encompassed by it to the point that you forget it is there. Your vision at this point is best described if this is taking place in a large body of water. You are looking up at the sky. It is endless, even during the day. The motion of the water does not affect the way you see the sky. It is almost like the sky is moving with you. The sky is moving. The sky, the universe, everything is a part of this wave that permeates everything. This is Source. This is the reason we exist. It expects nothing of us and yet when you come to know Source, you create expectations of yourself. Source acts through you. It acts through you whether you believe it does or not. But when you see or realize Source, the actions become more important, and therefore affect you in greater ways. Coincidence disappears. It is no longer just an advertisement, it is no longer just a number, it is no longer simply a painting… it is everything now. Unfortunately, this affects minds in various ways. It creates a vacuum between you and the traditional rational world of everyday life. This may work in some societies but in one such as ours, it creates discord and strife for the one experiencing it. It may take years for this mind to recall the truth of the matters. Most will forget the wave. Most will forget the floating and the experience of all. I think I am thankful that I remembered. It has been too long since I realized I don't have to apologize for anything. I may have to for the rest of the world that is still caught in the I. But for Source…well we go way back it and I. Source exacts no vengeance. It claims no possession over any thing even though it all belongs to it. It has no qualms over your choices in life. It does not judge. It does recognize itself. Therefore it recognizes you. You begin to see yourself as this wave after a time. You begin to realize that all you need to do is give in to the ebb and flow. You must be the clean filter. You must take it all in and let it all go. Many will think you don't really care. But who cares what they think? They are still caught up in the I. It is important to understand yourself and that is why it is important to understand Source. We are not separate from everything. Separateness is what causes suffering. It is what causes pain. The Source we must find to know what river we flow in. Once you know what river you are apart of, you know exactly where you are going. LINK BACK TO MAIN PAGE AT TOP. Copyright 2001.? |
