MELAKA PIER
Next,
we voted for a walk at the Melaka Pier. This is one of the places to be for
a bit of night entertainment. Going up the boardwalk, visitors will find
themselves greeted by a scenic view of the greenish-blue ocean.Well, not much to look at
when it's dark but I bet that the view of the horizon will the terrific at
sunrise or sunset.Aside from the view, there isn't really much to see, save
for one or two souvenir shops.[ A word to all tourists who have not been
here before : Though the prices here are reasonable, you will get a better
buy at the Pusat Kraftangan at A Famosa area. It's up to you really. ]
Not interested in collecting souvenirs?Well, you will find a few pubs and
bistros.I'm not exactly sure what they are since I did not check the place
out ( This is a school trip. ) But the mood of the places seemed really "hip"
that night.Music blasting from the pubs.A number of men crowding round the
snooker table. If you are looking for a night of relaxation, walk towards
the end of the walkway for seafood, wine and live performances to entertain
you.Certain parts of the area are quite secluded so beware of 'not-so-nice' people.
There is also a strip of beach to the right of the pier. One can go for a
stroll there but it isn't really much of a beach. To the left of the pier,
there is this rocky slope which leads one towards a small sandy area.Avoid
this area.It is quite muddy - you can see some spesies of mudskippers here.(
I think that's what they are.Correct me if I'm wrong. ) If you walk furthur
towards the water, you will find yourself sinking slowly into quicksand. That
was what happened to me.And getting a footful of mud isn't exactly nice.
Rating : Worth a visit.
