Sunday we had a few chores, but mostly wanted to spend a beach day. First order of business: new books. I was out of things to read, and Glenn was close to done with his book as well. We looked for used book stores, but most stores were closed as it was Sunday. We lucked out finding an open bookstore, so we splurged and bought a couple of new ones.

Next we needed a supermarket for some resupplies, but we couldn't remember where on the Ramblas we'd seen one. We wandered for almost an hour until finally, near the fresh fruit market (closed too), we found two stores next to each other that had what we needed; one with food, one with dry goods. We took a 2nd trip back to the hostel to drop off these purchases too.

Still trying to get to the beach, we started walking along La Rambla, looking for lunch before we settled to sunbathe. Glenn wanted something quick and simple, so we found lunch at a pizza place & watched the World Cup game, Spain vs. Someone Else. Not being huge fans, we still had to show interest and follow along while sitting there, as most of the rest of the city was tuned in and excited.

After lunch, we were finally headed for the beach. We walked along the waterfront looking for beach, but it was hidden behind a marina and more apartments. We finally found it and picked our spot among the crowd. It was once again a topless experience, with more mostly-naked people than any other beach we'd been to yet. We stayed for about 3 hours until the sun started going down & the shadows were too much.

We'd considered going to the local IMAX, but dallied too long trying to decide if we BOTH wanted to go, so we skipped it. On the way back to La  Rambla, we found a kiddie fair and stopped to watch the fun of parents & kids alike. Glenn wanted to go play too, but I told him he had to earn it.
Daddies only.

So we walked back & showered, then went out for a late dinner at a Chinese place, where we split the menu for 2. This would have been a nice meal except for an extremely rude Irishman, who absolutely would not cease his stream of obscenities even when his own large group of friends tried to quiet him down. I felt sorry for the poor waiters who had to put up with him!

After dinner, a little bit of internet work and people watching along La Rambla was our prelude to a good night's sleep.
