The plan for today included kayaking and snorkeling. We went through the usual routine which included getting up around 9:00 am, showering, getting dressed (so, that was only our swimsuits but it's still getting dressed!!), and heading down to breakfast. We ate a full breakfast, rented kayaks and snorkels and headed down to the water to pick up the equipment. Angie and Corela joined us while we headed out about the same time as a group of young Australians.

Our first stop were some caves that were mentioned to us that were just around the corner. We paddled a little ways before we came upon a few caves that we entered with our kayaks and heard the bats making their squeaking noise. We also took a few minutes to relax and enjoy the sun from atop the kayak. We then turned around as in the opposite direction were some great snorkeling locations. The paddle back across the beach seemed to take forever, even to the point that we thought we would just turn back and forget the idea. With some persistence and a great job paddling by Erin (we actually were in sync with our strokes which made kayaking so much easier and more fun!!). Upon arriving around the other side, I got out of the kayak and snorkeled while Erin paddled nearby so I would have a place to rest if required. I snorkeled for over an hour while checking out the sea life and the beautfully clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. The water is so clear that snorkels are almost not required but I would recommend them as there is more to see than you can see from above. Mark and Monica also caught up with us at this point and Mark snorkeled with me for a while. We then paddled our way back to shore and arrived around 4:30 pm while the kayaks were due back by 5:00 pm.

We went back to the room to relax, and Erin was going to shower and check email while I returned to the beach to play some volleyball. I met Mark and Monica back at the beach. Mark and I found another couple of guys to play volleyball with and they assured us that they had not played much volleyball either. Of course Mark and I had never played together. Well, we soundly got our butts kicked. We definitely had fun and we did find out that the two guys we were playing against (and the rest of the volleyball crowd we had seen) were from Poland and they came to Corfu to get an early week of practice and training before the volleyball season at home started. They had played together and were actually partners during the previous season. All of them played in tournaments for money and prizes so they definitely took it somewhat seriously. They also mentioned that the better players from Poland went to California during the winter to stay in shape. They were the more serious players I imagined.

Now I was worn out!!! I headed home, showered, had dinner and called it an early night.
