Today we decided to take an extra "chore" day in Florence and we would head out to Cinque Terre tomorrow (Friday). The extra day would help us catch up on our website by allowing me time to write some additional journals while Erin continued to update the website with the current information available.

The day started with Erin taking off to the internet cafe a little after they opened. The cafe was quite a bit quieter at this time in the morning which made for less interuptions and more support from the staff if required. I stayed in this morning and worked on journals. Finally around 1:00 pm I headed out to the internet cafe to relieve Erin and take her to lunch before we were to continue with our website work. After collecting Erin from the internet cafe we walked to the local mercado (market) and bought some bread, ham, and cheese. We also bought some fruit, but not too much that we couldn't eat it all within the day. We left the market just as they were preparing to close up for the day (2:00 pm) and sat on the steps overlooking the street vendors and made sandwhiches for ourselves. We were a little messier than usual as we could not find anyone that would cut the bread for us or provide slices of cheese (we bought a block of soft cheese) so with the help of our hands and our handy spoon we made sandwhiches.

After lunch we walked through the street vendors and returned to the internet cafe for a few additional hours to work on the website. At the end of the day we e-mailed quite a few friends to let them know that we had returned and that they could check out some new photos and journals on the site. Dinner was at a chain restaurant that we had tried in Bologna. They had all the choices of pasta combinations at a very reasonable price with hefty servings. We were hungry tonight but were still barely able to finish our meals. We passed on desert tonight.

The last task for today was to call my sister in Hawaii as it is her birthday. I had e-mailed her earlier in the week to verify that she would be around at 9:00 am (her time) and that I would call. She was indeed there so we chatted for a while (before the phone card expired) and told her we would see her in July. Otherwise the rest of the evening was uneventful as we called it an early night in preparation for a travel day tomorrow to Cinque Terre.
