Sevilla
Above, Sevilla's Cathedral, where Christopher Columbus is buried.  Below, a view of the beautiful Moorish architecture of the Alcazar, still occasionally home to Spain's royal family
Once a center of power for the Moorish rulers that long ago dominated the Iberian peninsula, Sevilla still houses some of the best remaining examples of the lovely architecture common in the days of Muslim rule, as well as the fantastic structures of the Christian rulers that followed.
Sevilla's Cathedral is the world's 3rd largest and houses a large collection of riches, both in architectural terms and on display in glass cases!
Right across from it, you'll find the Alcazar, a wonderful palace where Spain's rulers still occasionally stay. The impressive Plaza de Spagna was most recently used as a backdrop for the latest Star Wars movie and has scenes from every region of Spain in mosaics across the entire front facade of the building.
The entertainments of Flamenco and some great Spanish cuisine in local restaurants make this city a 'must see.'
Sevilla is well worth a visit on any tour of Spain!
