Remember When?
Remember when we had to play outside because there were no "999 cable" channels on television? As a matter of fact, there wasn't even color?
Remember when hotdogs were a dime, and a coke was a nickel and you could buy a whole bag of candy for five cents?
Remember when girls were not allowed to wear pants to school, and we were respectfully sent home if we did?
Remember when boys were given bb guns for their birthdays?
Remember the girdle? I hope we all forget that one.
Remember when we said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag? Then shortly after we all cried because John F. Kennedy was assassinated?
Remember the drive in theatre? Remember trying to see how many you cram into the trunk of a car?
Remember penny loafers?
Remember ringer washing machines? And the tubs to rinse the clothes in?
Remember Elvis, Ed Sullivan, and Dick Clark?
Remember the Grand OLE Opry?
Remember when you did something wrong at school, you not only got "spanked" at school, but you got it again when you got home for misbehaving in school?
Remember when Coke, was something you drank, a joint was a meeting place, and crank was what you tried to do to the car?
Remember your first kiss? And how you felt guilty because your parents had taught you not to do that?
If you do, then you are in the "Baby Boomers" category. And considering that most of our parents smoked, or used tobacco, and loved us and we knew it, we turned out pretty good. Of course, we made some mistakes, but look how far we have come, baby!
