Equipments required
Technically, to show my postings on my Online PD InfoSearch Series can be easily done in my school. This brand new school is heavily equipped with computers – the $83million has to do something. Virtually every room there are overhead projector hook-ups connected with a demo-computer, and a good number of individual computers around the room. This is a well set up for me to demo my site on the big screen (or wall, in some rooms) and teachers follow me by using the individual computers around the room.

The interactive feature
There are two channels to carry the interactive activities in between of teachers and me: online and off line.
The online part can be done, for now, by using the sharing feature of Google .doc and the interactive features of e-board service. In the future, when the optic fiber wide band cable is connected with the web 2.0 software, the interacting part will become even easier. We are located at Newark Science Park, the optic fiber cable line runs right in front of our building. This was all planned in the original design of the building at the first place.
The second part of the interactive feature of my workshop series is my favorite – when I see teachers in their PLC meeting, I will ask them open-ended questions like this “Try those databases on this Infolink (our district authorized group discount vender) offer sheet and tell me which one do you want me to subscribe for you”, or “What topic do you want me to cover in next meeting?” They may not bother to e-mail me back with their answers if I asked them by e-mailing them the same questions, but they will when I ask them face-to-face with my sincere voice and a big smell. It is human nature.
Another tool I will use is to handout the “feedback sheet”. A sample of such sheet is shown in Appendix C.

Summary
One of the basic job functions of a school media specialist is to ensure our teachers are efficient information searchers and users. There are strong needs from our teachers of all content areas. In order to make the teachers professional development workshops more efficient and give teachers easy accesses of information and technology tools, a workshop series has been developed, and a specific plan for school year 2008-2009 on implementing such shop is proposed. This is just the initiative of this research, periodically reviewing and revisions are essential in the future.
