My name is Peter Wang, was teaching math at Rutherford High School, and just happened last year I started my librarian job at Science Park High School in Newark. I am really happy on this job change. It is a milestone in my life when I turned to my fifties.
Twenty-one years ago I came to this country as an international visiting scientist from China, with a physics background. I taught polymer science and literature search at Beijing University for quite some years and enjoyed. At one point I could not resist the lure of an invitation from RPI in Troy New York, and started my research engineer’s life in this country. I have a Master of Science degree from China, a Master of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, and am a Ph D candidate there, never finished -- my advisor passed away at that time.
There are quite a few of things I did in my life. I was a carpenter, a factory worker, an engineer, a stock broker, a scientist, and a teacher, taught at middle school to college levels, on physics, chemistry and math. I never had a high school diploma -- China started its cultural revolution when I was on my 7th grade (year of 1966). And there were no school for ten years. I self-educated myself till I enrolled into Beijing Univ. for my first master degree. It seems in less than a year I will get my third master, Master of Art, with School Library Media Specialist endorsement from New Jersey City University, Jersey City, NJ.
My wife and I have a son who is a student of UMDNJ. He just took his step one medical licensing examination. My son has a little sister, who is a high school student, 10th grader. She is so happy to see I left the school (Rutherford High School, which is a school in the town I am living) she is attending. You may already know, to keep your daughter happy is not an easy job.
As of the hobby, I enjoy to work with my hands, invent things, have few patents and grow a garden.
