My name is Val, and I taught myself to tat about 27 years ago, after watching a co-worker at the Drumheller Penitentiary doing it. (No,I wasn't a "guest" - I was working as a clerk in the Institution Hospital) Since learning how to tat myself, I have taught several others. First I taught through the Drumheller Allied Arts Council, and now usually on a one-to-one basis, if someone wants to learn. A friend is currently organizing classes through her sewing shop, in Lamont, Alberta, where I now live. I am married, with three 'kids' - Misty, Nicky, and Danny - my 2 dogs and a cat (who thinks she's a dog too). In addition to tatting, I am also a potter, and hope one day to be able to set up a shop with my own wheel and kiln. My husband of thirty years is a Construction Safety Officer, I often design my own tatting patterns, since so often, I find errors Two friends also show their work on this site - Adrienne, who I taught to tat; and Claire, who I met on the inter-net. We all hope you will enjoy this site, and come back to visit often. |
