My name is Val, and I taught myself to tat about 27 years ago, after watching a co-worker at the Drumheller Penitentiary doing it. (No,I wasn't a "guest" - I was working as a clerk in the Institution Hospital)

Since learning how to tat myself, I have taught several others. First I taught through the Drumheller Allied Arts Council, and now usually on a one-to-one basis, if someone wants to learn. A friend is currently organizing classes through her sewing shop, in Lamont, Alberta, where I now live.

I am married, with three 'kids' - Misty, Nicky, and Danny - my 2 dogs and a cat (who thinks she's a dog too).

In addition to tatting, I am also a potter, and hope one day to be able to set up a shop with my own wheel and kiln.

My husband of thirty years is a Construction Safety Officer,
and often spends long periods out of town, so I have lots of
time to devote to my hobbies.

I often design my own tatting patterns, since so often, I find errors
in the patterns I purchase. I have entered many of these designs in
local 'Bench Shows' and won many prizes for them. Some are shown on the tatting site.

Two friends also show their work on this site - Adrienne, who I taught to tat; and Claire, who I met on the inter-net.

We all hope you will enjoy this site, and come back to visit often.
