With the Realm's forces committed to the invasion of the Scavenger Lands, the Blessed Isle was left only with minor defenses. But even the young Scarlet and Jade Empress could forsee the plan that was laid out by the forces of the Undead, engineered by the deathlord, Mask of Winters. With the Realms attention fixed on conquering the Threshold on the shoulders of Creation's mightest weapons, The Angels, the Mask of Winters plotted in secret, to seige the Imperial Manse and gain control of Creation's Defenses. His gambit came full circle when the last of the Sevength Legion ran deep into the eastern forests of the Scavenger Lands with the Realm smelling blood, the Legions eagerly pursued their wounded enemies. In Thorns, the Mask of Winters staged the second part of his plan by gaing control of the Spear of Sacles, a First Age artifact capable of transporting armies in mere seconds to any place within Creation. That place was at the heart of the Realm, the Imperial Manse. The assault was viscious and brutal, as the undead hordes poored out of the massive Essence portal killing the small armed force guarding the Imperial Manse. |
