Saturday, 21.00 hours

Fox Mulder opened the door as quietly as possible. It had not taken him too long to find the address. It looked like ordinary house from the outside, but once he had been inside he saw that it was an empty house.

Mulder checked room by room, most of them were empty. So far he had not seen nor met anyone. He could only hear the hum of a machine from one last room. Mulder held the door handle and tried to turn it. It was locked.

He kneeled down and took a wire from his pocket to pick the lock. A few seconds later he was opening the door, carefully. He saw no one inside. He stepped into a very large, gloomy room.

Mulder’s eyes widened as he saw things in front of him. He saw tanks arranged neatly around the room, each lighted with soft greenish light. The hum he had heard from outside the room came from a generator in the room that supplies air to the tanks. Mulder looked around in amazement. He was not staring at fish, but human’s babies inside the tanks.

"Dr. Hetfield is telling the truth after all." He murmured to himself. He wandered further inside the room.

Ardeth opened his eyes slowly. He felt like being crushed under a ton of rocks. It required extra effort to open the lids of his eyes. He tried to move his fingers…. They felt numb. When finally he succeeded, he saw two blur figures. He concentrated and began to hear voices.

"Ardeth… Ardeth…. Are you OK, buddy?" Iwan’s voice sounded concerned.

"I hope he doesn’t suffer amnesia." A woman’s voice, he didn’t recognized.

Ardeth pushed his concentration. Slowly he gained back his vision and saw Iwan’s concerned face looking down at him. Beside Iwan he saw a very beautiful face of an unknown woman.

Ardeth tried to sit down, but his head betrayed him. He felt a sudden spinning and quickly he rested his head back down with the help of the woman.

"No, no, no…. don’t sit. You probably have a concussion. Just lie down." She said.

Ardeth looked at her. He didn’t remember knowing her.

"Do you remember your name? Do you remember my name?"

Ardeth looked at Iwan and smiled, "Yes, my name is Elvis, and you’re Tutankhamen."

Iwan smiled back, "You crazy Egyptian! You were almost dead, my friend. If not because of this kind lady, I don’t think you’d made it."

Ardeth looked at her, "I owe my life to you, then. I’m Ardeth Bey." He forced himself to sit.

The woman helped him up and said, "I know who you are. Iwan told me. My name’s Rebecca Jenkins."

Ardeth felt a chill as she shook his hand. Her palm was as cold as ice. He only realized that the three of them were soaking wet. This Rebecca was only wearing a thin nightdress. Ardeth could see the curves of her body clearly under. Her nipples were visible through the white blouse. Becky turned away from him as she realized that Ardeth was staring at her body.

"I.. I’m sorry, Ms. Jenkins." Ardeth quickly apologized and looked away. He observed the room. They were in a amazingly small room, lighted by a dim bulb. He looked across the room and saw a metal door. There was no window, only a small vent.

He touched her arm and asked, "Can you tell me what had happened, Ms. Jenkins?"

"Becky." She said. "Just call me Becky."

Ardeth smiled. Becky liked that smile. She found him a very attractive man…. And he has a sexy voice, she thought.

"Well, I was kidnapped from my home. I wasn’t alone, I’m sure they have my friend Jenny somewhere. They sedated me and when I woke up, I was here. Not long afterwards you two were dropped here. Both of you were unconscious. Iwan woke up and told me that he was also sedated. He couldn’t see his attackers either. But you were not. You were hurt. I don’t know what they did to you but your face and body were covered with mud. We both tried to wake you up. Iwan found a lump behind your head. So we figure you have a concussion. Somehow I found that some of the mud covered your nose and mouth and almost choke you to death. So, it wasn’t only me who saved your life."

Ardeth looked at Iwan, "I owe you twice my life, my friend."

He turned to Becky, "And you too, Becky. I will never forget this."

Ardeth then related his story to both of them. He told them all, including the unbelievable alien conspiracy theory.

"It all makes sense to me now. These people who kidnapped us are those who conspire with the aliens" Suddenly Becky said grabbing Ardeth’s arm.

"They took my Baptist daughter, because she’s a super human. And they took me away because I was merely there, in the house. They must have originally targeted the kidnapping on Jenny and your friend dr. Hetfield because they know too much about the conspiracy. And they killed dr. Mitchum because he was your friend’s partner."

Ardeth looked at her and sighed, "Cat told me the truth, and I didn’t believe her."

"Hey, it’s not your fault, Ardeth. Who would have believed such a wild story, unless you experience it your self". Iwan patted his shoulders.

"Is there any way out of here but through that door?" Becky asked.

Iwan and Ardeth looked around them, and both shook their heads.

"I’m worried about Jenny. They caught the three of us because we were standing on their way. But, who knows what they would do to her? And your friend?"

"dr. Hetfield is not our friend, Becky." Iwan answered her. "She’s in this business all along. We met her in West Borneo."

Iwan related their unhappy experience in Randara Forest. She listened to him seriously and totally forgotten about Ardeth who sat leaning on the wall at the corner of the room.

His head was throbbing painfully. He knew he had quite a concussion. He listened to Iwan’s voice but his eyes were fixed on Becky. She looked naturally beautiful. Her hair was a mess and she didn’t put any make up on. Her clothes were dirty and wet and sometimes she shivered in cold. But her face seemed to radiate a glitter. She looked almost angelic to Ardeth. Maybe I’m dreaming, he thought. ‘No, I’m not dreaming….. I see her beautiful legs’, he thought further. ‘Her full breasts are visible under her thin blouse and she looks damned sexy… but my head’s hurt so badly.’ Ardeth drifted slowly to sleep. The thought of Becky was fixed on his mind as he fell deeper to sleep.

Saturday, 21.30 hours

Scully left the Mitchum’s house. She ran under the rain towards her car. Mrs. Mitchum had been very cooperative, but non of the information she gathered pointed out to Molly Parker’s kidnapping. There seemed to be no connection between these two cases.

The rain poured heavily. She drove her car slowly for it was difficult to see the road. Scully decided to stop by to Jenny’s house and talk to Becky about the baby’s strangeness. Somehow, she suspected that the capsules containing NH1 had not been consumed by the baby, but by the mother. Scully observed that Jenny had been showing strange behavior, which might be caused by consuming NH1.

Scully stopped the car in front of the house and walked quickly to the front door. She put down her umbrella in the front porch and rang the bell. She waited for a while and rang the bell once more. She looked around her and saw one other car was parked nearby. This time she could hear commotion from inside the house. A short moment later, the door was opened.

Jenny opened the door, "Scully!! Come in please."

Scully frowned and then smiled. "Thanks."

"What brings you here at this time of the night?" She asked.

"I just want to see if you’re OK, Jenny. And I would like to see Becky too."

Jenny smiled at her, but she didn’t let her in the living room to seat.

"Becky’s not home yet. She’s still at the church, I guess."

"Oh.. I see." Scully walked towards the living room and looked around. No one else was there, but Jenny was acting even stranger than before.

"Look, Scully, I’m tired. Can you come back tomorrow? I really need to go to sleep." She said.

"… and she calls me Scully….." Scully thought.

"Alright Jenny. I’ll come back tomorrow." Scully walked herself out of the house and the man inside the car looked at her.

As Scully went out of the house, Jenny closed the door behind her. Her face rippled and her body grew taller. She morphed into a man……

"Now, hurry finish the job." He barked orders as some men appeared from inside Jenny’s bedroom.

Scully quickly drove away from the area carefully, as not to be followed. When she was sure she was not being followed, she dialed her mobile to call Mulder.

"Mulder, it’s me. I think there’s something strange going on in Jenny Parker’s house. She was….."

"Scully!! You wouldn’t believe what I’m seeing here. I think you better come here. Our dear doctor is telling us the truth, Scully."

Scully drove passed the church and it reminded her of Becky.

"Hold on Mulder. I’ll call you back." She ran out of her car and entered the church.

She immediately saw a man who was cleaning the altar and approached him.

"Excuse me, sir. Do you know where I can find Becky Jenkins?" She asked.

The old man looked at her in surprise, "Becky? Well she didn’t show up for the choir tonight, Miss. Anyway, the choir practice had finished two hours ago."

"Thanks."

Once inside her car, she called up Mulder.

"Mulder, it’s me… I… "

"Scully, I’m no longer at the house. Some people came in looking for something. They are ransacking the place down. I had to escape. I’m now on my way to your place."

"Meet me at Jenny’s." Scully said and drove back to Jenny’s house.

Ten minutes later Mulder came and they both went inside the house. Scully noticed that the car was still parked in front of the house.

"So what’s up?" Mulder asked.

"I don’t know, Mulder, but Jenny’s acting weird. She usually calls me Dana, but she called me Scully twice tonight.’

With guns in their hands they slowly walked around the house. Mulder checked out the backside of the house and Scully checked the rooms. No one was there.

They went out of the house back to their cars. Scully walked towards the car and checked it out.

"Scully, what are you doing?"

"Nothing, I’m just checking this car. I saw a man watching this house very carefully from this car. Why did he leave without the car, Mulder."

They both stood on the empty street. The rain had stopped.

"Maybe this car belongs to one of the people in the neighborhood, Scully. Look, everything about this case is exactly like what dr. Hetfield told us. I saw the tanks with my own eyes, Scully. Exactly like dr. Hetfield described. What more do you need to prove? As far as I’m concerned, Molly Parker is probably dead. And your friend Jenny is being held by them."

"By whom, Mulder?" Scully asked. "By aliens? By humans who conspire with them? Mulder you forget that this case has something to do with the use of unproved drugs and most importantly with illegal human tests. Dr. Hetfield is probably involved in all this. She might have used Jenny and her daughter as her subjects of experiment. You were not at the hospital, Mulder. The nurses were trying hard to cover up something from me. As far as I’m concerned, dr. Hetfield mislead our investigation away from the hospital and from dr. Mitchum’s death."

"Scully, I’ve seen the tanks." Mulder speak slowly, stressing on the words. "Why can’t we go back there and you see it for yourself. There’s nothing here that will help us with the case, but something is definitely there, Scully. Something you have to see for yourself." Mulder insisted her.

Scully looked at him, then let out a sigh, "OK. Show me."

Saturday, 00.00 hours

Iwan looked at Ardeth and frowned. He came closer to check up on him. Becky followed him.

"Is he OK?" She asked.

"I think so. He’s sleeping."

Iwan sat near him and sighed.

Becky watched him and smiled, "Don’t worry too much, Iwan. I’m sure God will help us out. We’ve done nothing wrong. Maybe it’s better if we pray."

Iwan looked at her, "Yes, you are right. But I still think that Ardeth brings me bad luck."

"I’ve told you about us, tell me something about yourself."

Becky smiled and sat next to Iwan. "I’m afraid I don’t have as marvelous story as yours. I’m just an average american citizen. I work as a history teacher in the school for deaf-mute."

"Ah.. you know sign language then. My friend taught me that a long time ago. But I don’t know if I can remember them now. I didn’t learn it well. I guess it didn’t interest me much that time."

"Well I grew up learning that language. My grandfather was a deaf-mute. After my parents died in a plane crash, my brother and I lived with my grandparents. I was 8 then. Two years later, my grandma died of cancer. Then four years after her death my grandpa died of broken heart. My brother and I then moved to Canada to live with our uncle, my dad’s brother and her wife. They were so happy to have us because they didn’t have children."

Becky smiled again and patted Iwan on the shoulder, "You remind me of my uncle a lot, Iwan. He’s also a ranger. Was a ranger. He’s now a ranger trainer. He loves the forest and often spoke about it as you did…… with pride." She chuckled.

Iwan smiled, "What’s wrong with that? Rangers should be proud of the forests they’re guarding. If not, it only means they didn’t guard it well enough."

Becky laughed, "Exactly. That’s what he always says. You know, my aunt is a river guide. She took tourists on a river rafting, or canoeing. Are there any river guides in West Borneo?"

"Yes, there are. But not in my part of the forest. The river is too dangerous for tourism. Every ranger in Randara Forest has to know how to raft across the river. It’s the fastest way to travel, because in some part of Randara Forest, the trees are so dense that you can only travel 10 meters a day."

Iwan looked at her and noticed that she looked a bit sad.

"Are you OK, Becky?"

"Yes, I’m fine. Iwan, if I survived this, I would call my uncle and aunt. Actually my brother and I left home 5 years ago. My brother had a dispute with my uncle and he preferred to leave Canada and went back to the US. Since we were so close, I chose to follow him. It was wrong. My brother is not a subtle man, I realized that later. And I was too ashamed to ask forgiveness to my uncle and aunt. I guess it’s wrong too."

She looked at Iwan.

"It’s not a good thing to do, Becky. But I’m sure they will forgive you. Once in our lifetime, we must make a mistake. It’s up to us to correct it."

She nodded and smiled. She looked tired as she watched Ardeth sleeping. "I envy him. Look at him, Iwan, he sleeps like a baby."

"On the contrary, Becky. It’s not like Ardeth. I’m afraid he has more than a concussion. He’s not a man that can sleep anywhere like this. Well, maybe we should try to sleep too. You look tired."

Becky nodded and she walked to the corner of the room and sat there. Before she closed her eyes she looked once more at Ardeth. He was charming in his sleep, she thought, "If only I had more time to know him….."

Sunday, 02.00 hours

Ardeth heard a bang and opened his eyes. Some men in uniform came inside the room. He saw them came to Iwan and Becky too. He heard her scream. Before he could move, one of them injected something to his neck and sent him back to sleep…………………..

Ardeth opened his eyes and saw Iwan and Becky on his sides. Both were unconscious. There were bright lights ahead of them that preventing him from looking around him. He heard a man’s voice, "Send him back to sleep."

Ardeth squinted but couldn’t see what was going on.

"This one’s quite tough, Sir. I’ve injected him with 200 cc already."

"Give him more. They won’t remember anything when they wake up."

Ardeth felt a sting of needle in his arm and a few seconds later darkness enveloped him One thing clung on his mind before he lost consciousness: Catherine had told him the truth…………..

Sunday, 03.00 hours

"Forget it, Mulder, I’m tired. I need to get some sleep." Scully told him as they went in the reception area of the Galaxy Gateway.

"Are you saying that I made up the story?" Mulder said.

"No Mulder, I’m saying that you fell into her trick. She meant to trick us by setting up a bogus lab in that house. I don’t fall for it, Mulder. We found nothing. It only means that she is involved in this deeper than we thought. Why would she bother diverting us away?"

"What if she didn’t set all this things up, Scully?"

They arrived in front of Scully’s room. Scully smiled wryly and said, "You figure that out, Mulder. Meanwhile, I could use some sleep. It’s three in the morning, Mulder. You better get some sleep too."

Mulder resigned to his room and undressed. He went to the bathroom and was about to freshen up himself when he heard Scully knocking on the door.

"Mulder. Mulder, open up."

"Yeah, just a second." He quickly put on some clothes and opened the door.

Scully came rushing into the room. Her face was pale and she looked shocked.

"Mulder, Detective Calhoun just called. Jenny’s house was on fire. They.. they found her dead."

"I knew it!!" Mulder thought, he didn’t say the words out loud though.

"Are you OK, Scully?"

"Yes… yes I’m fine. Let’s go, Mulder."
