THE 2005 BC CALC EXAM
I took the BC Calc Exam! I thought the
multiple choice was very easy. The whole year, and calculus in general, is
based on taking integrals and derivatives using different methods. The multiple
choice had many easy questions and easy derivatives. It is important I think to
review all the conceptual rules of derivatives in relation to graphs. The free
response killed me, because I was never good at going fast on the problems. I
was able to think of a solution if I dwelled on a problem long enough, but the
lack of time in the AP test made me skip one entire question. Still Mr. Block
says that you need a 65 pts. Or higher, and I think even if I did badly on the
free response, my multiple choice will bring me through. I really hope for a 5,
and I have reason to believe I got one.
ADVICE
I think that you all probably think that
Mr. Block is very crazy, but you have to know that he is a very bright man and knows what he is talking about. It is
important that not just in class but out of class that you go up to him and
personally ask him questions. He will help you understand it one on one. Also,
everything in calculus is pretty easy except for Taylor’s series, so don’t
worry about it, just understand the basics. Lastly, make sure you know all the
original functions on those mini quizzes because they are an easy 50 points
every time you come back from a break.
I'm a Junior this year, but next year
I plan to apply to the University of Michigan,
or University of
Pennsylvania
