We finally arrived to the caravan, near the gates of Tellon Northshire.
Of course I was there before the rest. Travelling with people who
wish to come up with insane plans can drive and wizard crazy.
They decided on a course of action, thought up by Marr the bard.
It was to hide someone into a chest and we would spring out and capture
the Black Sun.
Of course we were being forced to do this, and it seemed rather difficult,
the famous Black Sun vs the famous Grovewood Hero's. Who are not
so famous yet, except in Grovewood of course. I often wonder how
that town is still doing. So anyway, we finally arrived, of course
following my fellow companions was chaos, and at that point I decided to
accept my doom. They argued and what not over final adaptations of
the plan. It was to capture at all cost in a sense. Off we
went, I took a nice seat on the caravan and began to study my spells, ones
which I would need to aid the party in our obvious future encounter.
Our first encounter on the travels to Insignbal was a rather educating one. We had made camp and were settled in for the night. I was awoken by Tollers and I couldn't see a bloody thing, the moon wasn't giving me much help at all, and we had no fire burning. The sounds of combat echoed not far away from my resting spot. I scrambled for a torch in the wagons and by the time I was able to find one, Schantell and the others had finished of the Troll, it had attempted to flee and Schantell casted a rather nice fire spell which dropped it rather quickly.
So I went back to sleep, releaved I suppose, I didn't need to get involved,
and some of my friends has some deep wounds from the giant claws of the
creature. If we were not the grovewood hero's our night would have
ended here, but we are, and so be it. I was awakened again, by someone,
maybe cries of mercy from my friends and woke to see the troll was back,
at first I was sure it was another. As myself and Tollers approached
the battle field, Kotetsu and Marr returned to camp, one looking for a
torch the other trying to aid a badly injured Galstaff who was saved by
one of the others from being carried off by the ruthless Troll.
Arriving on the scene, Tollers and I noticed we were losing the fight.
Someone came to our aid from behind, a young women, who was thrashed by
the monster right off. I decided I was going to stay back.
I turned Toller's invisible thinking he could attempt the bull over the
troll and we could pin it down and tie it up, then it wouldn't be able
to do us any harm and we could just leave it there. It turns out
Tollers used his invisiblility to pull what appeared to be Brigid out of
the harms way and anyone else who had fallen to the foe. Jaden decided
to throw flamable oil on the beast. It did nothing but cause danger
to everyone.
Suddenly a guard came running towards the endless battle with a flamming
sword, as a beast man rushed from the woods and attacked the Troll.
With the aid of these two we won the confrontation. The guard helped
me bring any wounded back, as did Jaden. I collected out weapons
and we sat around in bitterness for a good hour.
The lesson learned here was that you need fire to kill a troll.
Well the next day finally came, we all woke, some really sore, others feeling alright, and tired. It turns out the Troll wanted to flee but, as I have said before, we are the grovewood hero's, so be it.
The next day brought a hanging, which I would have liked to have learned
more about, but our scouts decided to allow it to proceed. It wasn't
to my surprise it was Marr's idea. This day eventually brought the
Black Sun to us. After a rather confusing talk, the Black Sun ended
up with the keys to the carriage and no will to co-operate with us.
As the sun came around to the back of the carriage I noticed that everyone
was going to let her just take the gold. So I casted invisible on
myself which in turn Galstaff did aswell. The Sun roared in anger
and a fight began. Marr casted a nice magic missile at the knight
while Tollers disarmed her. Galstaff managed to knock the warrioress
off her mount and the party pinned her down. It was like a piece
of perfection, well not so much.
The next few days brought some good and bad things. I figured out how to use our box of cards, we learned that the black sun was really the princess, that just made things difficult, and we met Jetter a warrior. We saved him from brigands on the trail to the castle. In any case we arrived.
As we approached the gate guards I decided to use my new invisible spell yet again, though my gum arabic is running quite low. As I casted it on the black sun to hide her, Marr ruined my spell and told me it was a unwise thing to do. He's a fool, and as bitter as I was, I just said "so be it". Forever I will wonder if Marr has any wisdom at all. Tollers called back to stop the caravan and after a small discussion we were allowed in the city. With the Black sun in plain view we were attacked with food from the crowds who apparently carry it around with them and are able to assume mob formats with excellent speed. Now if I had been unwise as Marr says, this would not have happened. Tollers was somewhat bitter having thought I had casted the spell on her. In any case we arrived into safetly looking like fools again.
This was a good thing in certain ways for myself anyway and a bad one,
for we had to tell the king, he black sun is his daughter.
We arrived at his chambers and Marr began by angering the King.
I decided to start explaining who and why we requested this, and thought
it was going well when Marr just pulled off the helmet and let the king
know as I was saying it. We then angred and made the king happy back
and forth with comments. He decided his daughter would serve in the
front lines until dead. With that we were given chambers, baths and
food. As well as a good nights rest in a warm bed.
The next morning brought a fine breakfast, if I would say so myself, being a cook in training. As well as an old old friend. Sklyla returned from being kidnapped, how? well I don't know. I left to go find a healer with Jetter.
So it seems Skye healed up fine, and Marr again came out with a surprise, he suddenly was all about the law. Perhaps he just didn't know Skye well, but if it was my choice, she seems good at heart and I don't plan on bringing her to the law. Though I decided why involve myself with this, I don't care. The party decided, with some of my infulence and knowledge that we should travel and seek the guardians backing. This made the most sense to almost everyone. Tollers had to get home in any case, so we got our things and set out a couple nights later.
