J'etyla

  • Description: J’etyla was orphaned at a very young age, and was taken in by the people of The Village of Sarum in England, a large community of druids and families. The village is about 8 kilometers from the ‘Old Sarum’s Tree’ Millennium Tree, the place where J’etyla was found as a youth, huddled at the base of the tree clutching a large branch. The druid who found her quickly realized it was a staff created by the tree. He asked her if the tree had given her the staff, being a little suspicious because of her age, looking only about 10. J’etyla shook her head, and explained that it was from her mommy. J’etyla had been living in a small cottage with her parents, both druids, and while she was playing in the woods outside the house her mother came out looking startled, and wearing a full suit of MDC armor. Her mother quickly gave the staff to J’etyla and told her to run to the tree as fast as she could and not look back. She took her mothers advice and ran away, not looking back once. After what seemed like hours of running, she finally found the tree, and collapsed against its trunk, completely exhausted, clutching the staff from her mother tightly. After hearing the story, the druid who found her sent a wilderness scout who was resting in the near-by village out to find the cottage, but there was nothing more than ashes left, and the burnt remains of two suits of armor.

The druid decided to not tell J’etyla the truth, and said her parents were just “away” and he was to take care of her, and he did just that. J’etyla was raised in The Village of Sarum, and lead a quiet life, spending most of her time alone in the forest it, but as she grew, she began to get curious. She needed to find out where her parents were, it had been nearly 20 years of stories of how her parents were still “away” but J’etyla couldn’t bear it. She went into the old druids house, and found him laying on a bed, surrounded by other druids of the town. It was obvious to J’etyla, the druid was dying. She could feel it. She went to the side of the bed, and knelt, holding the old druids hand and asked “Will you tell me about my real parents now? I have waited long enough”. The druid nodded as best he could, and with a pained look in his eyes, he reviled the true fate of her parents, then closed his eyes and lay still. The other druids took her out of the house and closed the door. He was dead. J’etyla ran, just like the day her parents died, she ran until her legs burned, then ran some more, until she finally reached the edge of the forest. She stumbled to her knees and cried, cried for her parents, cried for the druid, and most of all, cried for herself. She took a vow right then and swore that one day she would find who, or what had killed her parents.

She wandered the land for nearly 70 years, looking for answers, before she finally returned to the Village of Sarum, expecting everyone she knew to be dead. There was one familiar face, an elven druid, one who was present the day the druid had died in his home. It appeared as though she recognized J’etyla as well, because she invited her into her home, and offered to train her fully in ways of the Scathach druid. J’etyla eagerly accepted. The training went quickly, because she had watched her parents and the old druid perform healings and use herbs many times before. In under a year she was a fully-fledged Scathach Druid. She thanked the elven druid, but told her that she must leave once again, to continue her search. She packed her things and left the village once again, but this time, not only for her search, but to heal as well. J’eska eventually gave up on England, and went on to other parts of Europe, hoping to find some answers there instead.

She now wanders Germany, and usually appears as a small cloaked figure standing about 5’8” and wielding a large staff about 6 feet in length, often offering her powers of healing and knowledge of plants and herbs to adventurers. Not many people see underneath her cloak, because she chooses to hide her beauty from the world, but still, a select few have seen her. She has medium length, golden blonde hair, usually kept in braids, and a soft looking complexion, with strong cheekbones and pointed ears. Her body is firm and muscular from her training in combat, but she still appears youthful and soft to the touch. She has a general willingness to help lost or injured adventurer, but she has never been very sociable. She has always preferred being alone in the woods, away from other people, and will still usually take solitude over a group. She doesn’t really have much of a sense of humor and often her speech and behavior are very dreary.
