Background: His mother and sister died in a vehicle accident soon after his thirteenth birthday. With his father constantly busy with research projects this led to him becoming self-reliant and basically a brat. His father seeing that his son has discipline insisted that he learn a form of martial arts. It taught him discipline and control which he lacked.

He became an orphan during the alien attack on Macross Island. His father was busy with some experiments in a building close to the SDF1. The initial fire of the main cannon vaporized most of the building. Ensuing the escape and rescue by the SDF1, he finished his schooling and joined the RDF as a destroid recruit. During a training session he had a violent disagreement with his instructor and was later given a choice by the commanding officer: To accept a dismissal or a transfer to the veritech training program. He accepted the last choice and worked hard to overcome his disadvantage of starting late.

Personality:Rather a loner and very self-reliant. Slow to make friends but very loyal to those he have. Has a tendency to ignore bureaucratic rules and regulations and this has landed him in many a scrap from time to time. Slow to anger and goes quiet and focused before eventually exploding.

Appearance:Mario is tall and lean, just this side of gaunt cadaverous. He has a narrow face with a pronounced brow and a straight beak of a nose. Deep set eyes that changes color from dove to slate gray depending on what mood he is.
