Marcus was born to human farmers living near the Michigan border. When he was 12 years old, however, his parents' farm was attacked and destroyed by a Xiticix raiding party and his father killed. Fearing further attacks, Marcus' mother decided to leave the farm and take her son to Chi-town, where they would be safe. She was fortunate in locating and being able to join a caravan heading in that direction. However, during the difficult journey, of which Marcus has few memories, the caravan was attacked several times by monsters and bandits. It was during one of these monster attacks that his mother was killed. Filled with rage at her death, but with no outlet for it, Marcus continued the journey and ended up in the Burbs outside Chi-town. Lacking any useful skills, Marcus quickly fell in with one of the many gangs that roam the area. Having joined a human-only gang, Marcus found an outlet for his anger in the frequent gang wars. In these wars, he specialized in fighting D-bees, exercising constantly in order to build up his strength and endurance so he could better fight them. As his skill in combat increased, it wasn't long before he was noticed by a Coalition military recruiter. At 16, Marcus had already realized that the gang was a dead-end, so it didn't take much on the part of the recruiter to convince him to exchange his gang life for one with more promise-the military.
Returning from several small skirmishes and a few years service, Marcus soon became restless with the barracks duty his unit was assigned with at Chi-town. Thus, when he ran into a military specialist recruiter Marcus was quick to convince the man to recruit him-though at the cost of his rank. However, Marcus only spent a couple of months as a Military Specialist before orders came down transferring him to Special Forces as part of a pilot program initiated to incorporate more the military specialist skills into the Special Forces. Once there, Marcus realized he had found his true calling. He speedly settled in with his new unit and developed a reputation as a good and loyal soldier. He quickly developed more combat skills, including sniper ability, to complement is military specialist training and became very good at infiltration and identifying enemy networks and destroying key elements of same, using the persona of the harmless hunter he had developed as a military specialist to get into areas where the Coalition was unwelcome. It was due to these skills that he was tapped for his current mission.
Note- a talented actor, Marcus is able to competely submerge his feelings regarding D-bees and the like when needed to obtain information. That, combined with his disguise abilities, have enabled him to successfully complete more than one mission.
