Background: Shade was an aspiring member of Dorian Delmath's mercenary party that was later taken over by Memory Van Patten in Liberty (formerly Ohio). Shade is trained in the mystical arts of the ninja and has helped in the Eastern Empires fight against the Mechanoids and the Bad Cats Merc party.

While the group was away, Shade was left behind with Maggie to gaurd camp. He blacked out and awoke in Chi Town... A lapse in time had occurred. A temporal disturbance of some sort had moved him through time and displaced him by nearly 1000 km. He then finds Torch to try and figure out what is going on around him.
